Response to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Visual arts#Heinz Braun

edit

Hi,

Regarding the posting on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Visual arts#Heinz Braun regarding the notability of the subject:

  • If I was to base it solely on the content of the article - and the German article that it came from - I would guess that he wasn't notable. This is because there's only one source in each article, no inline citations in the German article, and the source in this article is a person and/or marketing site in the name of the deceased subject of the article.
  • When, I did a google search in books alone, though, there seem to be a number of sources for Heinz Braun - and from a quick glance a number seem to be this NB HB.
  • If I was coming upon this article, I would tag it for Refimprove. It also seems to be borderline COI (based upon the source used), One source issues (possibly depends upon whether all the content really came from German article that just had one source).
  • My recommendation would be to find good reliable and secondary sources - like books, magazines and newspapers, for instance - and remove the ones to the Heinz Braun site, which appears to only apply for an External link.

I hope that helps, but if you have any questions, respond here; I'll watch the page.--CaroleHenson (talk) 19:14, 22 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, CaroleHenson. Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply. I have posted again at Project Munich for others to see your post here. I will leave it to those who speak German to find references. I do not read the language, and have no way to translate, so I cannot find the refs. By the way, I am in correspondence with his son, who has offered image(s) for the article. Sounds good, Anna, regarding letting others pick up/translating information from German sources. Nice!!-regarding getting images from his son, I don't remember ever getting a response to a request for an image. Just an update. I received a nice photo of Heinz at the easel. I am now working out the permission with his son. Hope to have it in the article soon. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:50, 24 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
There was a pretty decent article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung about Braun a year ago, when an exhibition at Regensburg was shown to commemorate his 75th birthday. The SZ is one of the two most respected newspapers of Germany. I'll use a few quotations from that article to give our bio some flesh on the bones. --h-stt !? 15:56, 24 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
