Talk:Helgason Asgeir
Helgason Asgeir → Asgeir Helgason
Helgason is the person's family name - the article intro shows it this way and Dr. Helgason himself even confirms it in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Helgason Asgeir stating that his brother's name is also A. Helgason. Some cultures show family names first but I don't think Scandinavian ones normally do.

- Comment: Although maybe this is supposed to be Ásgeir Helgason with an accent mark? —Wknight94 (talk) 03:02, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe, but only if you can prove that this accent is generally used in referring to this person in particular, especially since he isn't working in Iceland. Gene Nygaard 13:46, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- That he wrote his own name without the accent in commenting on the deletion request (link above) is one piece of evidence that it should not be included. It isn't conclusive; he may do it differently in different languages, perhaps including it if he writes in Icelandic but not in Swedish or in English, or whatever—and we should also take into consideration that this is the English Wikipedia when deciding. It may be that because of inexperience with Wikipedia he didn't know that we generally accept use of that letter, or maybe he really doesn't care one way or the other. Gene Nygaard 14:03, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Support as this is not the Hungarian Wikipedia. As regards accents, hopefully someone here would be able to assist. Regards, David Kernow 14:28, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- Support. Be sure to use sort key to index in categories; generally as "|Helgason, Asgeir" except maybe in subcategories of Icelandic people which are usually indexed by first name where it should probably be "|Asgeir Helgason". Note further that this sort key should have "A" in both cases, even if you slap an "Á" into the article name. Gene Nygaard 13:46, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved per request. Favonian (talk) 09:30, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
Asgeir Helgason → Ásgeir Helgason – This individual is Icelandic. All Icelandic given names Asgeir are written (contrary to Norwegian names) as Ásgeir with an accented A. "Asgeir Helgason" can become a redirect to Ásgeir Helgason for ease of reference for those who do not have access to accented letters. werldwayd (talk) 07:21, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- Support per sources and en.wp practice for Icelandic names. In ictu oculi (talk) 15:29, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- Support: Seems reasonable to me. bobrayner (talk) 03:22, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
