Hmm. The new image boldly proposed actually looked like an improvement to me. I see it was reverted with "no consensus to change", which is a somewhat unfair summary, because I see no discussion or attempt to form consensus. And certainly no detailed reasoning here on the talk page (as suggested by the WP:BRD process) to explain the removal. Is there a particular reason the current image is better? Personally I think the newer image is a better one and would support it's replacement. --Errant (chat!) 09:24, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

It's not appropriate to add this this to the lead of this article, especially when trying to make a WP:POINT. This article presents a world view of carriers of all navies, not just Italy. - theWOLFchild 16:00, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page
Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Revamp
Some parts of this article are a mess. Lets merge the carriers by country and current carriers section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.39.81.8 (talk) 03:44, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
RFA Argus
Classifying this vessel as a "helicopter carrier" is a stretch. It is an auxiliary vessel with a primary helicopter training and casualty reception role. It is not a helicopter carrier in the traditional sense. Many vessels in other navies have a helicopter capacity similar to that of Argus (eg. Royal Netherlands Navy support ship Karel Doorman; USN San Antonio class) but yet could not be classified as "helicopter carriers". Vessels classified as "helicopter carriers" should probably be limited to through-deck ships with flight decks located above the ship hanger. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.26.14.56 (talk) 15:12, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
- I'm not sure, it has far greater aviation capacity then those vessels (three landing spots, large hangar deck). Few ships are solely aviation focused. Most have other capability such as a well-deck. What defines a helicopter carrier, I assume, is whether the aviation capability is one of the main roles of the vessel, as oppose to just an additional secondary feature. For this reason I think the San Giorgio-class amphibious transport dock and Ōsumi-class tank landing ship should also be included. Possibly there are other, non-conventional looking helicopter carriers that should be included as well. Rob984 (talk) 18:50, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- I agree that the list of potential "helicopter carriers" can become very lengthy. If by definition you are including a ship like Argus then a range of other vessels need to be added. What about the RFA's Fort Victoria ... or Fort Austin? I think what is needed is a definition of "helicopter carrier" in order to ensure consistency. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.26.14.56 (talk) 19:26, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- Does anyone else have anything to add in regards to this? Perhaps there should be a clear(er) definition of what a "Helicopter Carrier" is (and isn't). This list could become bloated with all kinds of ships, such as Amphibious assault ships for example, as well as other types of Aviation-capable naval vessels. - theWOLFchild 20:22, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- Additionally, I see that the San Giorgio-class amphibious transport dock has been added for the Algerian Navy. Do we keep it? If so, then they need to be added for Italy as well, no? fyi - theWOLFchild 20:25, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
DDH Redirects here
DDH is a designation for an helicopter Capable Destroyer. Essentially All modern Destroyers are helicopter capable. Different nations use the designation with totally different meanings. The United States Navy has never designated nay of its ships as helicopter Capable Destroyer. At one point the US Congress made a effort to direct the US Navy to develop a helicopter capable destroyer, but ht Navy did no dot such. IN my mind - a "Helicopter Capability Destroyer" will have a greater helicopter support capability than a typical destroyer, and retain near typical other weaponry of a Destroyer, and not be significantly larger than a Destroyer. The 3 best examples of helicopter capable destroyers are Japanese Shirane class destroyer and Haruna class destroyer and the Canadian Iroquois-class destroyers This article talks sole about much larger vessels, with the primary aim/ weaponry is support of aviation - be is solely helicopters, or V/STOL aircraft. On the “helicopter carriers currently in service” list, USS Bonhomme Richard is listed. That ship suffered a major fire in 2020 and has been removed from service. It should be removed from the list.
I’d do it, but I only have a mobile device at the moment, not an actual computer. It’s a lot of text to find the right part to edit, even more so when you’re just on a small phone screen. Doobiedoo86 (talk) 08:46, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
- She's still listed as active, once she's decommissioned, she will be removed. - wolf 19:27, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
