Self-promotion and Wikipedia

edit

This article is a clear example of somebody trying to use Wikipedia to advance his own interests in lieu of building the encyclopedia... User:Materials2 sole contributions to Wikipedia have been to promote this person's works and profession.

In accordance with WP:N, WP:SPIP Wikipedia is not a promotional medium. Self-promotion, paid material, autobiography, and product placement are not valid routes to an encyclopedia article.

Therefore, the article should be deleted as there are no reliable secondary sources that merit its addition. Likeminas (talk) 19:27, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have been reverted several times when bringing to speedy deletion: when a long time passes with the article around, an AfD is warranted. Most likely this article won't survive AfD, but I wouldn't haste with speedy deletions. --Sulmues (talk) 20:09, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
So basically you mean that because a self-promotional article has passed undetected for 4 months it is no longer possible to delete it via a speedy??? Please do point out to a policy on that and I will gladly remove the template myself. Likeminas (talk) 20:18, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
No, keep the template, I really want to see the admin that will delete it. I actuall don't know the policy, but experience has shown me the above. Besides, I have not seen the sources with calm, that's why probably the article hasn't been speedy deleted first, all those sources, kind of make the watch dogs step back. --Sulmues (talk) 20:28, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
