Correction: Andrew

edit

Someone fix the chart - Mikey was the one who was eliminated last episode - Andrew didn't leave. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.161.52.207 (talk) 01:11, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

never mind he did leave - sorry xD —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.161.52.207 (talk) 01:38, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Where did the chart information on episode 5 come from? It hasn't aired yet. 216.17.228.103 (talk) 18:50, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Episode 5 & 6 haven't aired yet, but eliminations shown on chart?

edit

Very odd... This information needs to be removed, as it's either incorrect or spoilers.99.6.143.133 (talk) 04:24, 19 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Episodes 705 & 706 are airing right now. 705 was added moments ago yet persistently removed. I'll edit the table for 705 and 706 @9:00e Altarep (talk) 00:29, 23 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good. Thanks. We really need to watch for any suspected spoilers and revert them immediately, though, in the future. Connormah (talk | contribs) 00:36, 23 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
As much as I'm for keeping some aspects under wraps, at what point are we lifting the embargo on episodes? After the program has finished in the East Coast, the West Coast still has another 3 hours before it is complete. I can speak from experience that I would like to see what the synopsis of the episode is without having to wait the 24 hour embargo for Hulu to put it up online. I'd like to make the suggestion that the embargo on episode synopsis and result table be embargoed for 1 hour after the completion of East Coast broadcast. The justification being
  1. a period to get all the facts for the episode down correctly and to generate a coherent synopsis of the episode.
  2. time to make sure (in your sandbox) that you have all the wiki tags and formatting set so that it can be done in one swoop of content
  3. keep those who have low impulse control from spoiling the ending for themselves if they don't live on the east coast.
Please let me know if this will work with everyone Hasteur (talk) 02:43, 29 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Progression Chart Changes by user:68.9.223.10 and user:173.56.83.179

edit

Thank you both for your changes to the progression chart, yet to do something so radically to the progression without discussing here or at the main HK US page first and to break precedent with all 6 previous seasons of HK screams problems. I intend to revert the progress box section changes. If you want to make this change please give your justification for it. --Hasteur (talk) 12:31, 2 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, but there are also additions they have made to the descriptions of the recent episodes that might be worth keeping.Naraht (talk) 12:35, 2 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I pulled the changes from the 'last' agreed version of that section and applied them to the main page with a pointer to come see the discussion --Hasteur (talk) 12:38, 2 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Semi-Protection

edit

I applied for semi protection on this page due to the IP editors inserting and removing the Episode 10 "elimination" reason. Please come discuss it here so that when the semi-protect comes off we can drop the back and forth bickering? Thanks Hasteur (talk) 13:46, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure it rises to the level of semi-protection, given WP:SILVERLOCK and WP:ROUGH. Also, I've found that this page has useful editing by anonymous users more than most other pages that I've seen. While I'm not going to apply to have the Semi-Protection lifted, I think we need to study the level of vandalism vs. valid edits by anonymous users.Naraht (talk) 15:39, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
My concern is that the annon IP editors are making changes without any edit summary other than what is provided when they edit the section. To my understanding you're supposed to put a one line summary of the change when you edit so people can (at a high glance) see what's happening to the page. Hasteur (talk) 15:51, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I agree that that is annoying, but if that were the case, I think we'd have to Semi-Protect most of Wikipedia. Not providing an edit summary doesn't make an edit into vandalism.Naraht (talk) 17:17, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Preview Information?

edit

Include information from the Previews? For example, at this point we have had episodes 9 & 10, but at http://www.fox.com/hellskitchen/recaps/season-7/episode-11/index.php , there is a preview (more or less equivalent to what is shown on the next time, but some more information). This includes information such as what the challenge is.Naraht (talk) 12:42, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

IMO, Wikipedia is not a WP:Crystal ball and we're really supposed to be making a lasting document for the season rather than a play-by-play of the season's reveals. I'd prefer to hold all changes that are for an episode to 1 hour after the conclusion of the episode's broadcast East Coast time. Several of the spelling/wording issues that cropped up after this last episode could have been resolved prior to saving by staging the changes in the personal sandboxes before it gets committed to the season's page. Just my feeling. Hasteur (talk) 20:13, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
And again, we're flooded with a deluge of "updates" that feels like a blow by blow of the episodes. IP Editors, your thoughts? I'd really like to have the page show a few changes (with spelling and grammar) rather than
  1. "Ed is up for elimination."
  2. "Ed and Autumn are up for elimination."
  3. "The team nominated Autumn for personal reasons and Ed due to his poor performance on the fish station."
As you can see this has the herky jeryk confusion that makes it dificult to sort out what is the reality and potentially leaves the article in a incorrect state. Please review the "1 hour embargo for episode content" proposal I have made above as I intend to propose it to the entire WP:TV project as a way to keep currently airing TV programs from taking a dip in quality during the airing of the show. Linking Food Items?

edit

I noticed that someone had wikilinked Monk Fish. There are other food items in the article that can easily be linked such as Beef Wellington and Scallops. Opinions?Naraht (talk) 17:42, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Slippery slope to disaster, do we allow wikilinks to simple things like garlic or salad? I'm inclined to only wikilink items that are out of the standard vocabulary that people might be looking for (like Beef Wellington, John Dory, etc.) Hasteur (talk) 22:49, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Runner-Up ?

edit

I'm sorry but didn't we have this whole runner-up debate last season? why should we change it again. It seems once again it's been done to every season. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Hell%27s_Kitchen_%28U.S._season_6%29#chart_changes_for_seasons_one_through_five Tlatseg (talk) 08:43, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Joint filming of Seasons 6 & 7

edit

I am wondering if Seasons 6 & 7 were filmed at the same time. I ask because at the end of the season 7 finale, You could see Season 6 winner Dave Levey walk through the restaurant. He was wearing a chefs coat, & Grey beanie hat, and still had the cast on on his left arm, which should have healed by now.--Subman758 (talk) 01:28, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Dave can be seen on a replay of the show at hulu.com [1] at precisely 42 Minutes 50 Seconds. You can clearly see his cast covering his left arm down to and including his left thumb.--Subman758 (talk) 03:02, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Also interesting there, at 42:26, you can see that Holli has been added to the Wall of Fame already...Naraht (talk) 03:28, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think that is actually Dave on the bottom. Because the six smaller pictures are surrounding the larger one, and I think the larger one is Chef Ramsay.--Subman758 (talk) 04:48, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Summary table is getting out of hand.

edit

There is no need for footnotes in a summary table. If the user wants to know that kind of information they can read the synopsis. This happens every year (please see Season 6 Talk for some background). Padillah (talk) 18:00, 24 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Contestant's "Residence" column

edit

I think that adding the "Where to they Reside" column to the contestant table is excessive and goes against the tradition for the other seasons. As such I have reverted the change that added the column and the data. I am now bringing it to the talk page for discussion per the WP:BRD cycle. Hasteur (talk) 19:25, 18 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Holli's visa problem

edit

"Holli's visa wouldn't allow her to work in the UK" doesn't seem to make sense - normally, you don't need a visa to enter the UK. However, the UK had recently changed its laws to make it much harder to hire non-residents for certain jobs, so it's very possible that somebody had tried to get Holli a work visa for the UK but was turned down, presumably as "there are plenty of chefs you can hire in the UK" and "she's not enough of a celebrity to qualify for a 'celebrity exception'" (without which, it would be impossible for, say, musicians to enter the UK to perform). -- That Don Guy (talk) 19:29, 11 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think you have these slightly confused, A visa is a request to enter/leave a nation. There's fairly free visas for tourism, but work visas are significantly more restrictive in the requirements. Hasteur (talk) 20:34, 11 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Colour contrast problems

edit

It seems that this article is using colours in the infobox which don't satisfy Wikipedia's accessibility guidelines. The contrast between the foreground colour and the background colour is low, which means that it may be difficult or impossible for people with visual impairments to read it.

To correct this problem, a group of editors have decided to remove support for invalid colours from Template:Infobox television season and other television season templates after 1 September 2015. If you would still like to use custom colours for the infobox and episode list in this article after that date, please ensure that the colours meet the WCAG AAA standard.

To test whether a colour combination is AAA-compliant you can use Snook's colour contrast tool. If your background colour is dark, then please test it against a foreground colour of "FFFFFF" (white). If it is light, please test it against a foreground colour of "000000" (black). The tool needs to say "YES" in the box for "WCAG 2 AAA Compliant" when you input the foreground and the background colour. You can generally make your colour compliant by adjusting the "Value (%)" fader in the middle box.

Please be sure to change the invalid colour in every place that it appears, including the infobox, the episode list, and the series overview table. If you have any questions about this, please ask on Template talk:Infobox television season. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 05:30, 2 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hell’s Kitchen season 7

edit

Someone just changed winner in 2 of 4 locations on the feed from Holli to Jason. I just watched season 7 finale and can confirm Holli was the winner of season 7 not Jason. They should not be making changes without confirming that their information is correct 68.197.179.166 (talk) 01:49, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
