Genre
editIf in the genre section it says Groove metal...then why does it say in the opening sentance "hard rock supergroup." Come on, it can't be both. Trivium9786 00:04, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- I was just going to make a topic about that. The contradictory classifications should be removed. --Pasajero 22:24, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see how they're groove metal. I would list them as alternative metal and hard rock, and I guess heavy metal could be accepted as well. Dmiles21 00:25, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'd go with Heavy Metal, have you heard Waging War? Skeeker 01:03, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Why does it only say Groove Metal in the genres section? It's supposed to list both Heavy Metal and Groove Metal Fanboy00 (talk) 04:03, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:HELLYEAH ST.jpg
editImage:HELLYEAH ST.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:36, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
GA nomination on hold
editLeave a note on my talk page when this is all done. Cheers, — Dihydrogen Monoxide 02:05, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's a bit repetitive to list the bands that members come from, and then to list the members and their respective. Might wanna just merge these sentences ("Hellyeah is a heavy metal supergroup, consisting of Mudvayne vocalist Chad Gray...")
- "the self-titled album" - Change "the" to "a", or change to "the band's debut self titled album"
- Ref 1 has a random quotation mark lying around on the title
- "In their previous bands, there had only been one guitarist in each so it was a new experience for all members." - minor reword needed. --> "In their prevoius bands, there had only been one guitarist, so having two was a new was a new experience for all members."
- "the summer and fall off" - summer and fall (especially fall) need wlinks so they aren't ambigous (for example, in Aussieville, we call it Autumn, not Fall, so most Aussies would be like "wtf"...not that any Aussies would listen to/read about such bad music :P)
- "Gray flew into Baltimore to Nothingface's home studio to discuss the project." - This has no relation to what comes before it (nothing) or what comes after it (a discussion of ego). The whole paragraph is rather choppy and could do with a bit of copyediting
- "due to everyones positive energy" - apostrophe (everyone's)
- "Paul says it's "very affirmative and full of attitude..." - change "says" to "said"
- Add {{main|Hellyeah (album)}} to the top of the "Hellyeah" section
- "and an Australian tour in July 2007" --> "and underwent an Australian tour in July 2007"
- "All Music Guide reviewer William Ruhlmann stated the album is "a competent example of its genre, in which Tribbett and Maxwell combine to create crushing riffs over the pummeling rhythm section of Montano and Paul, while Gray howls typically enraged, expletive-littered lyrics to songs"." - It aint good practice to use the same quote twice - this exact same quote is used in the "Hellyeah" section.

"not that any Aussies would listen to/read about such bad music :P" What are you talking about? you're trying to get this nominated and you don't even like thegroup? WTF? Take this POV-loaded crap to a forum, not a Wikipedia talk page.
- If you don't like the band, then don't listen to them!!!!!

GA Reassessment

Article has fallen below standards. Comments regarding why to come in a few days. dannymusiceditor oops 00:43, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
Note: This had been filed as an individual reassessment, but really I only did that because I have noticed that community ones seldom get any attention by themselves, and it gives me the discretion to delist it. I welcome any rational comments or votes to delist/keep it. Alright, let's begin before I forget again. After I'm done, I'm going to ping several members of involved WikiProjects on their stances. dannymusiceditor oops 20:58, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
Lead
editThis is great for when it was promoted (over a decade ago), but it hasn't been updated since then. When it was promoted, the band was new, and its debut album HELLYEAH had only been available for eight months. Like I said, great on early content, completely absent of anything else. I'm thinking something like Gray's other band Mudvayne is at least more like it. Five Finger Death Punch's is a better example. Of course, this is because the article has more content, which is also a problem here.
- What's this genre that Allmusic hinted at, and is this statement even necessary for the lead?
- Is Kyle Sanders' relation to Troy necessary for the lead or is that better suited as body information? I think the latter.
History
editThe first two sections, Formation and early days and Hellyeah (2007–2008), are very good on content. However:
- The former section needs citations in the second paragraph beyond its second sentence, which includes quotes. That's a serious problem, however good the rest of it may be.
- The latter section's final paragraph is poorly written in general, though its citations are fine.
The other history paragraphs are lackluster in comparison. I can tell some effort has been put into Stampede (2009–2010), and I think that's okay and wouldn't warrant delisting if everything afterward was at about the same level or better...but I don't know if that would be acceptable for passing the article through another GAN today. That's all for now, I will continue again soon. dannymusiceditor oops 20:58, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
Okay, so yesterday I found a few more unsourced/unverified statements in the article that I have tagged. These sections have good content, but could be sourced better. I have fixed some minor MOS/linking issues as well. There's nothing to source "Hellyeah" getting Satellite radio waves (I don't know if that's even important, but still), and neither are the other singles, but I can source that. In a little bit I'll get to the next few history sections - not much to be said, but there'll be something. dannymusiceditor oops 20:14, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
Reviewing Stampede section again:
- First paragraph: First sentence doesn't need a colon.
- "Was on May 11, 2010 in Madison, Wisconsin"
- "the obligatory cocktails, good eats and familial brotherhood." I'm sorry? Copy-pasted? Link's dead so I don't know. That's inappropriate for Wikipedia without quoting it, and I think quoting it is inappropriate here.
- In fact, all that content is jargony ("tracking" and written as if it were a heavy metal news/interview article. It was likely copy-pasted, and the editor didn't to a fantastic job either. It needs copyedited.
- "The band members lived in bungalows on the grounds" What grounds?
- Not enough touring information.
- The second paragraph is too quote heavy.
Reviewing everything after that:
- "It was also announced that guitarist Greg Tribbett and bassist Bob Kakaha have departed the band, and were shortly replaced by Christian Brady (Magna-Fi/Überschall) on guitar and (Skrew/Bloodsimple/MonstrO) bassist Kyle Sanders (brother of Troy Sanders of Mastodon)." - Grade A mess.
- Anything more about the "No More" campaign? Does it need it? I'm not sure. I helped install that way back when, but I wasn't aware of how bad it was at the time.
- "Slayer was chosen to headline the 2015 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. The bands Hellyeah, King Diamond, The Devil Wears Prada, Thy Art Is Murder, Whitechapel, Jungle Rot, Sister Sin, Sworn In, Shattered Sun, Feed Her To The Sharks, Code Orange & Kissing Candice also participated in the Rockstar Tour." - Rewrite.
- Unden!able (2016–2017) and onward needs more content. Surely you can do better than this.
- Tagging several areas for citation. There were some tours I didn't tag but I think they probably need it. Speaking of tours, the last few sections fail to mention any at all.
Style
editWell cited, but rather short. Surely now that this band's been around a decade there must be more analysis available? I think more effort is warranted. It only covers the early days of the band, much like the rest of the article.
Wrap-up
editIf Eminem can't be a good article, this certainly can't (in this state). No better than a C-Class. Now come the pings to the leading Wikiproject contributors to see if any interest exists. It's a shame, because this band's kickass.

- I don't know much about Hellyeah, but I'd love to help. What can I do? CelestialWeevil (talk) 04:15, 21 April 2018 (UTC)
- I'll go through and make some improvements here and there, I do agree with your assessment that it doesn't meet GA standards anymore. I'll try and work on it as much as I can in the meantime to see if it can be 'fixed'. RF23 (talk) 05:14, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
- I have left this open for what I like to call "friggin' years" (two months), and it has generated little to no interest from anyone. Vinnie Paul just died and still nobody's noticing. I'm afraid I have to delist this now. Not only does it have a massive number of problems, but it technically cannot be called stable right now. dannymusiceditor oops 18:38, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
Nick Augusto is NOT Hellyeah's new drummer!
editThey responded to my post about the drummer slot saying that is fake news.
