edit- (1) Falsifying the title of a reference is not a "minor" edit. (2) A Wikipedia search on "tooltip previews" returns zero results. Unscintillating (talk) 12:58, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
- I found the following post on my talk page, from User:Hydrargyrum,
“ | == Hellyer County Park == You have twice reverted my edit to Hellyer County Park. Please explain to me why you think it is better for readers to see an obscure, meaningless link to a redirect in a their browser's status bar or in a tooltip pop-up, instead of the relevant article text referred to by the link. — QuicksilverT @ 04:36, 15 September 2014 (UTC) |

- (1) WP:BRD generally means discuss on the talk page of the article. (2) Your edit comment used the term, "tooltip previews". Since you are the only editor on Wikipedia who has used the term "tooltip previews", I request that you provide links to where the concept you intended to discuss is analyzed on Wikipedia. (3) No matter what you or I think about "tooltip previews", this has nothing to do with falsifying the title of the reference. (4) You've marked both edits to this page as minor, but neither seem like minor edits. Unscintillating (talk) 23:22, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
- Here are follow-up comments (a partial quote of the original) from my talk page, again from User:Hydrargyrum,
“ | I would also suggest that if you're using Microsoft Internet Explorer to edit on Wikipedia, switch to a standards-compliant browser so that you can see tooltip previews. I don't use IE, since it isn't offered for my operating system, but I understand from reports that it doesn't display tooltip previews, or at least hasn't been capable of it in the past, among its many other deficiencies and shortcomings. Tooltip previews have been available to logged-in users on Wikipedia for a long time, perhaps more than five years now, to make browsing and editing easier. Replacing direct links with redirects breaks that functionality. — QuicksilverT @ 00:29, 16 September 2014 (UTC) | ” |

- I've documented that your edit comment "tooltip previews" returns zero hits on a Wikipedia search. This is an objective claim. If it is erroneous, it can be refuted. Otherwise, it should be useful feedback for where this conversation currently has a limitation. I've also indicated how to move forward from this potential limitation, which is that I've requested "that you provide links to where the concept you intended to discuss is analyzed on Wikipedia." I do not find that the hints dropped on my talk page have been a substitute. Initially, I didn't stop after the first search failed. I found some related material, but nothing substantial. None of this has any bearing on the falsification of the title in the reference. Again, this is an objective claim. If it is erroneous, it can be refuted.
