See James Granger's Biographical History of England, page 272, which refers to his 1643 embassy to England, also referred to in Memoires d. Mr. D'artagnan. 100.15.120.162 (talk) 12:59, 12 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

The questionable nickname

edit

A reference is need in the first sentence of the Life section, as I do not believe the Count was actually nicknamed Cadet La Perle. The famous engraved portrait by Masson (ca. 1667) is in fact one of the rare engravings to have a nickname - Cadet à la perle - but I do not believe there is any contemporary evidence that the Count himself was so-called. Can anyone provide a reference that supports the assertion that he had that nickname?
