I'd say this is still a start-class. Inline citations and some wikification is needed yet. Wizardman 18:36, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Singer and actress

edit

I have noticed that questions of this distinction are often asked after on thes articles. The truth is, that up until about the mid 19th century, the distiction among the singers of the opera and the actros of the theatre was not as strict as it became later; both the singers and the actors were expected to sing and act. If singers had dramatic talent, they were expected to act in the theatre; and if actors were able to sing, they were expected to act in operas. Therefore, many of these artists (far from all, however) are known to have been both singers and actors in paralell, although one of these careers strongly dominated. Widerberg is known to have been both. --85.226.41.66 (talk) 14:34, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Parts she made

edit

The parts are in danger of being deleted because the composer of the works is not written in the article. So I will place them here: Widerberg started with parts in jolly operettas, until her performance in Vestalen (The Vestal) (in 1821) proved her capable of performing more demanding parts. She played Emilie in Målaren och modellerna (The painter and the models), Clara in De bägge arrestanterna (The two arrestants), Armida, Cora, Pamina, Zerline in Fra Diavolo, Anna in Don Juan, Hvita frun (The white Lady) and Anna in Friskyttarna (The poachers); Julia in Vestalerna (The Vestals), Armida in Det befriade Jerusalem (The Liberated Jerusalem), and Amazili in Ferdinand Cortes.--85.226.47.151 (talk) 10:41, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

The following are still unidentified:
  • Målaren och modellerna (The painter and the models) by Méhul: Mehul did not write any work with a name like this.
  • Anna in Don Juan,
  • Anna in Friskyttarna (The poachers) by Weber;
  • Julia in Vestalerna (The Vestals)
Of course we can't use Swedish names for non-Swedish works. --Kleinzach 11:45, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have no problem with the titles being corrected - though I may only add, that they were of course not known as presented under their original titles when they were performed in Sweden, and were not listed under their original titles, which is perhaps the reason as to why they are listed in Swedish here, not to be disrespectful at all. As for the questions:

  • Målaren och modellerna (The painter and the models) was a little mixup; written by Bouilly, translated by Carl Nordforss, music by Mehul.
  • Don Juan by Mozart
  • Der Freischütz by Weber (Poacher/marksman was mixed up)

I hope this was of some help. --85.226.47.151 (talk) 15:27, 14 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

ALL C A P S

edit

We don't use ALL CAPS on Wikipedia. They will have to be converted into Upper and Lower case. Thank you. --Kleinzach 11:54, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

They were written in all caps because the title of the original work was in all caps. This is corrected. --85.226.47.151 (talk) 15:29, 14 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
