Henry Dearborn direct descendant
editA direct descendant of Henry Dearborn is Lewis Lapham, recently retired as editor of Harpers Magazine.
Detroit
editPar 5 mentions the fall of Detroit, however in the sentance before that it has the subject planning to attack Detroit. The way it reads it has Detroit falling because he failed in his plans to attack Detroit which the US (I guess from what I read else where) already had. So, there is an inconsistency here?, or maybe just a transposition?, at minimum needs cleanup.John5Russell3Finley 22:41, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- That's because the planned attack was on Amherstburg; however, later he had to change his plans to attack Detroit after it fell to the British. --67.180.190.160 (talk) 18:00, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

It needs rewriting:
- He was later appointed president of the court martial which tried and condemned General William Hull, even though Dearborn's own negligence contributed to Hull's defeat.

- General Dearborn was supposed to be attacking Niagara at this time. If he had, it would have prevented British reinforcements from being rushed to Amherstburg. But he didn't do anything, and the British came and went as they pleased. See "1812: The Navy's War", George C. Daughan, pg. 95. --Petercorless (talk) 18:09, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

editIt may be worth adding that Dearborn spelled Kongress with a K. (From Louisa Adams' diary, cited in Garry Wills, Henry Adams and the Making of America, p. 31-2. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 21:24, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Superintendent of Lighthouses
editThis source https://www.montereyboats.com/news/view/seguin-island-lighthouse/ claims that he was the Supt of lighthouses but I see no mention of it? Gbawden (talk) 11:26, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Revolutionary War Service
editThe Dictionary of American Biography does not name the battle, but the major engagement of the Sullivan Expedition was the Battle of Newtown in August 1779 not the July 1778 Battle of Wyoming. Dearborn commanded the 3rd New Hampshire at the Battle of Newtown. Griffin's Sword (talk) 16:23, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
