Children
editPlease, whoever is adding "Dorothy Herbert", please check your facts and sources. The DNB states that he only had three children. "father of William third earl of Pembroke [qv] Philip earl of Pembroke [qv] and Anne who died young." Please see: DNB Google eBooks Thank you. -- Lady Meg (talk) 23:26, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Somehow -- it MUST have gotten mixed up on an online tree that Dorothy Hastings was Dorothy "Herbert". Contrary to that "opinion" -- it was Dorothy HASTINGS, daughter of Lady Anne Stafford [widow of Walter Herbert, son of the 1st Earl of Pembroke of the 1468 creation and his wife Anne DEVEREUX] who married Sir Richard Devereux (d. 13 October 1547), son of Walter Devereux, 1st Viscount Hereford. I'm pretty sure that the father of Walter Devereux, 1st Earl of Essex did not die in Virginia.. anyone know anything about that? -- Lady Meg (talk) 00:02, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
Actually there were four children, but one didn't make it into the DNB it seems; there was also a Katherine who died as a small child, per the Sidney Homepage at Cambridge. No Dorothy though; that is simply an attempt by some Gilliam descendants here in the US to add in a royal lineage. I've seen her listed as "Dorothy Pembroke" in some (unreliable) sources, shown as an illegitimate daughter of the Earl of Pembroke. Someone seems to be stepping the false genealogy up a further notch and making her a legitimate daughter. PohranicniStraze (talk) 01:18, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
