My Dad, Bert Martineau

1948 Olympian. 5th in 50k Walk. Have many photos to add. 3rd in London to Brighton Walk in 1947, 2nd in 1948. 8 hours 35, then 8.34. 3rd in Trial Race,National Championship 50k, 4.39. Just 6 weeks before Olympics. 1st in Round Leicester 22 mile race just a few weeks earlier. Set new course record. Won first Walking race in 1935. Solid silver winner’s medal with Swastika on it. Missed two Olympic opportunities as Games of 1940 and 1944 never took place. Got close to selection in 1952 but at 37 years of age was arguably too old and past his best. Hi. Thanks for your edits, however you need to verify everything you add with reliable sources. And as you are connected to the subject, please also see WP:COI. Thanks again. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:24, 23 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, All information provided is verifiable in Race Walking Record which are available on the internet. This is the Race Walking Association’s regular publication and contains race results and reports. ‘The Southerner’ which is referred to contains an article written by me about my father. Was suggested to me that I should do an update. Hope this helps. Mike Mike Martineau45 (talk) 16:36, 24 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
