Hericium novae-zealandiae
editIn recent years it has been confirmed that the true H. coralloides is not found in Aotearoa New Zealand and rather the species found in this country is Hericium novae-zealandiae. Therefore pekepeke-kiore is not the Maori name for H. coralloides but for H. novae-zealandiae. The latter species is mentioned in the Hericium page but really needs its own page, but I don't have skills to create that, just inviting anyone who wants to to do so! And this page for H. coralloides should be edited to remove NZ references. All NZ collections of Hericium in iNaturalist now show H. novae-zealandiae and you can see notes rejecting the presence of H. coralloides in NZ here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.153.117.138 (talk) 03:12, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
