editHerkimer is less than 20 minutes from Utica. I think you're thinking of another city.
herkimer isnt exactly a suburb of utica. i5t's about 45 min. away (This is VANDALISM -- It's only 45 minutes away if you walk.)

Vandal 69.141.166.70 has repeatedly reverted this article to show false "factual" material:
- Herkimer is not a station on the Long Island Rail Road, which of course is on Long Island.
- Herkimer County Community College offers Associates Degrees only.
- Herkimer is not a true suburb of Utica, New York.
- Herkimer did not secede from its town in 1894. It became an independent village in 1807.
- I suggest that anything this self-proclaimed "village historian" has placed in this article should be reverted until substantial proof can be provided supporting his claims.

- Vandal 69.141.166.70 erases and edits this page, along with his own talk page, to conceal his activities in the main article. Stepp-Wulf 03:12, 29 January 2006 (UTC).
- Vandal 69.141.166.70 now is using another computer to avoid the blocking: 24.195.192.234, or perhaps it is just another ten year old friend. Stepp-Wulf 03:38, 30 January 2006 (UTC).
- Vandal 69.141.166.70 now is using another computer to vandalize article and avoid the blocking: 68.39.118.125,Stepp-Wulf 03:46, 31 January 2006 (UTC).
- Vandal 69.141.166.70 back again. Reversion of page to remove his false information,Stepp-Wulf 04:52, 1 February 2006 (UTC).
- Vandal 69.141.166.70 is back again using 69.204.217.27 after being blocked under his own account. This user claims to be the "village historian," but repeatedly reverts to his version of Herkimer, with silly and false information (as indicated above). He claims to be able to substantiate these insertions, but has yet to provide anything. It is quite absurd to accept that the community college issues doctorates or that the LIRR has a station in Herkimer. I have intentionally left some of his material on the page, even though it seems questionable. Nevertheless, even after repeated blockings, this vandal repeatedly reverts the page to his fictional Herkimer. Surprisingly, he has actually done some decent, if trivial, edits elsewhere. He must have a "thing" about Herkimer, NY. I always hope that some knowlegeable local contributor can expand these articles, but not in this fashion. Stepp-Wulf 04:08, 3 February 2006 (UTC).
Herkimer is definitely not served by the Long Island Railroad, whid only services locations on Long Island.199.29.6.2 17:41, 4 February 2006 (UTC).
- Someone foolishly released the block on vandal 69.141.166.70, and, of course, he immediately reverted Herkimer to show the false information. He also put in some new decent material, so, instead of reverting, I merely removed the questionable material, and wikified his new entries. This way his reasonable work and that of other editors is preserved. Who knows, maybe the "village historian" will write a new, unplagiarized history for this page. There is always hope, but then I expect he will be reverting in the nonsense again. Stepp-Wulf 02:43, 5 February 2006 (UTC).
Vandal is back
editOur page vandal has returned, not having learned anything in the intermission. I don't regard it as necessary to go through the series of warnings, but will block immediately any address that evidences the same vandal. Pollinator 06:26, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Reverted page due to reversion/vandal, now using 24.225.233.38, Stepp-Wulf 02:21, 10 February 2006 (UTC).
- Removed the nonsense about the relationship between Syracuse University and Herkimer County Community College. The only nearby college related to Syracuse U is Utica College. Stepp-Wulf 03:12, 12 February 2006 (UTC).
New vandalism by 69.141.166.70 commenced as soon as he was released from the latest block. Even while blocked in the past, this vandal returned as: 69.204.217.27, 24.225.233.38, 24.195.192.234, 64.12.117.12, and 68.39.118.125. Herkimer vandalism may be related to vandalism on nearby villages Ilion, New York and Frankfort (village), New York by Trashday03 and Speedy11, Stepp-Wulf 04:29, 13 February 2006 (UTC).
- Back today as 70.23.86.115. Pollinator 04:33, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- More vandalism "Herkimer Chicks" and "Herkimer Thugs," nonsensical and offensive sections removed by apparent "registered users" -- Probably the same person behind previous vandalsm. Plus the use of several names suggests a possible sock puppet. Stepp-Wulf 01:08, 10 May 2006 (UTC).
- This article, Herkimer (village) and Ilion appear to be the target of a sock puppet using several registered names or a small group of vandals working conjointly: CaptainMarvelDC, CthulhuCommandsYou, GlobalGUTS, GottaCatchEmAll, KidIcarusNES, MeddlingKids,
PurplesaurusRex, Samoa Joe Is Angry, Secondwhiteline, SuperSloppyDoubleDare, TheFlashDC. The type of silly vandalism is entered and reverted by more than one of these names. Stepp-Wulf 03:10, 14 May 2006 (UTC).
What sort of criminal mastermind would have the stupidity to vandalize in the face of the great SteppWulf? Must be the same idiot who vandalized Mohawk, NY. Keep up the good work boys. ;) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.121.253.66 (talk) 15:39, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Is This Correct?
editThe page claims: "The village is the only municipality in the nation to be represented by three governments of the same name: the village of Herkimer, in the town of Herkimer, in the county of Herkimer. The village is also the county seat."
But what about the borough of Manhattan, New York City? Officially, that's the County of New York in the City of New York in the State of New York. 71.232.34.184 (talk) 19:15, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Absolutely right! The claim about Herkimer was about the only useful entry in the article, since the person writing it vandalized the article many times. I did not delete it because the three levels of the same name happen to be true, but the "only" part was unknown to me. Stepp-Wulf (talk) 03:09, 2 July 2008 (UTC).
Notable people
edit- George Spohr (born 1981), youngest newspaper executive editor in the United States when selected in 2013 at the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader.[1]He had earlier worked as the metro/business editor for the Times Herald-Record in Middletown, New York.[2] These sources do not say that he ever lived in Herkimer. The Times-Leader article said he lived in Utica, worked for the Middletown paper and the Central NY Business Journal (based in Syracuse), for a paper in Watertown.
