Eicher's Civil War High Commanders does not cite Lieb as ever commanding the 9th Louisiana. In his official report, General Elias Dennis states that Lieb was colonel of the 9th Louisiana. The 9th Louisiana was reorganized several times and had an old and a new form. The old one remained under command of Lieb and became the 5th US Colored Heavy Artillery. As for the date, he was announced Colonel on April 14, 1863 by Lorenzo Thomas's Special Order of the War Department No. 9. ...GELongstreet (talk) 08:23, 14 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
