Napoleonic Wars.
editThere is nothing here on his activities or allegiance from 1803 until the civil war, this is relevant as some who notables fought on the liberal side were officers in the Napoleonic Legion Lusitano, who were involved in attrocities in the Tyrol and elsewhere, similar to those portrayed by Goya in Spain, as performed by the french, on non cooperating populations, others were loyal to the regime, others fled and stayed on the sidelines. The absence of data from this time sows suspicion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.82.22.33 (talk) 20:52, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
He does not appear to have been in the Napoleonic Legion. http://www.arqnet.pt/portal/portugal/invasoes/legiao02.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.82.22.33 (talk) 21:09, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
Freemasonry, switching sides in the civil war.
editHere we see opinion/evidence that he was a freemason, and switch from the liberals to the Miguelists, and back. This is highly relevant. http://www.politipedia.pt/sobral-hermano-jose-braamcamp-de-almeida-castelo-branco-1755-1846/
