Notability, encyclopedic content, etc.

edit

This school article is currently in a very bad state, for several reasons:

  • It does not establish notability of the subject. That is, it is not clear from the article why this school fulfills Wikipedia's inclusion criteria for organizations.
  • The article contains a lot of unencyclopedic content; in fact it comes quite close to what is described in this essay. For example, the sections "Daily Schedule", "Rivals", "Student body" largely contain too much detail or unverifiable claims.
  • The article does not cite sources. All content inserted here should be verifiable against reliable sources. This is also a good test to identify unencyclopedic content: If no reliable source has written about a certain fact, then it is probably not suited for an encyclopedia.

Please improve the article, addressing these issues. Otherwise the article might get deleted from Wikipedia.

For the time being, I am replacing the “importance” warning tag with “notability”. Sorted as part of the Notability wikiproject. --B. Wolterding 09:30, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Suggestions

edit

For those who know, is there anything which makes HHS truly unusual, special, or unique? Does HHS offer an unusual class, perhaps an uncommon foreign language, or an unexpected breadth of math subjects? Does anyone have special information on the history of the school? Did Highland high school students (lower case used intentionally) use to attend Hammond High School (as was the case with Munster, for example) before Highland High School was built?
