Move request

edit

This will need to be moved to a disambiguation page. Highland Park is a common town name - and many of them will have high schools (Highland Park Michigan, for one.) Maybe it should be Highland Park High School (Illinois)? Rmhermen 18:50, May 19, 2004 (UTC)

I'm going to assume that this RfM was made in good faith and oppose it. Not necessary. --BaronLarf 05:32, Jun 9, 2005 (UTC)

Infobox

edit

The infobox on this page is currently a large HTML table that takes up much room on the edit page and, according to Wikipedia:Manual of Style, section 22.2, should be replaced with an infobox for ease of editing.

  • In this edit it was.
  • In this edit it was reverted back with the reason "dont mess with the infobox".
  • In this edit it was again added by a different person.
  • In this edit it was again removed with no reason provided by the same editor who first removed it.
  • In this edit it was added again through a revert and a message was posted on the other user's talk page
  • In this edit, it was again removed by the same user with the reason "This infobox looks better. Die in a fire, Deerfield."
  • In this edit, (the most current version) it was again added with reference to this talk page.

I'm not here to pick a fight, I'm here to inform the community. I do not speak on behalf of Deerfield, I speak on behalf of Wikipedia. According to the Manual of Style section 22.2, markup should be kept simple. It says "Use HTML and CSS markup sparingly and only with good reason. Minimizing markup entries allows easier editing." The infobox template applied to this page has been used on hundreds of other High School entries, why should it not be used on this one? Please express your opinions on this subject to allow for the best decision to be made. omtay38 15:38, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Assessment

edit

I am assessing this article for WikiProject Schools following a request, and giving it C / High. This is well established article, with plenty of content and references, and could be B or even GA class with some work. The article structure is okay but sections such as history could do with expansion. The lead (introuduction) could do with expanding, it should introduce the topic and summarise each section of the article. References could also be improved with some sections having only one reference, use of {{cite web}} and other such templates would also be a good idea. Importance is more difficult to gauge here, it is at least Mid importance but probably not well known enough for Top importance. The school has a long history, dating back to the 1850s which is a long time for a U.S. school, the alumni list is also very extensive. The TV show, while not well known but it won an award, is probably enough to push it over to high importance. Camaron · Christopher · talk 09:57, 28 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notable alumni

edit

Please note that the notable alumni section is not for people the school considers notable. Instead, it is for people who meet Wikipedia's standard for notability. This will generally be shown best by Wikilinking their bio on Wikipedia. Also, references must exist in their bio connecting them to this school, or you must add those references when you add their name to the list. Thanks. History v. Campus

edit

Should the section entitled "History" be renamed "Campus?" Sure, there is the history of the school, but it is only of the school's campus. There are no major events that happened, other than those that happened to the campus. If I'm getting this wrong, sorry. Coolnerde (talk) 07:28, 25 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
