NPOV
editEXCUSE ME?! Isn't Wikipedia supposed to be NPOV? This sounds like it's all impartial, copied-from-website-and-writeups-by-everyone-but-the-students writing. I'm sorry if I'm adding my own bias to this, but I take offense to half of the descriptions in this article. In addition, the HGM isn't even unique to NoHo, it also includes 3 elementary schools and one middle school all in LAUSD.
I personally find something really wrong, but mostly factual, with this article, so I hope nobody takes offense to my editing it. Applegoddess 02:10, 3 August 2005 (UTC)
rewrite
editmy apologies to the people who wrote it before. i had to rewrite it. also posted in the HGM livejournal community that anyone should feel free to edit it. I think it'll be a much better article when written by people who have direct experience with the program, and not by someone who seemed to be pulling everything out of his/her....yeah. Vanity edits
editTwo people (presumably the users of the accounts that made the edits) have added themselves to the notable alumni section. No offense intended; but I haven't heard of either of them, and I doubt most others have as well. Notable alumni should be--well--notable. Just because you've graduated and gotten a job, it doesn't mean you've gained any fame. I'll leave them up for now, because I'd like to see some other input on this first. 404notfound 02:53, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
I'd like to ditto this comment. If you think someone is notable, it's got to be because of more than a bunch of letters after the name. At least give some explanation.--red shirt guy (talk) 03:23, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Creating a new page for North Hollywood
editI don't think that the section on the North Hollywood Highly Gifted Magnet should be the largest part of the entire article about the HGM. There are many more HGMs in the country and the page that should be for all of them should not be dominated by information about a single school. I think that we should move the NoHo HGM section to its own page, perhaps North Hollywood HGM or North Hollywood Highly Gifted Magnet, and should be merely linked to from the main HGM page. I will let the people who spend the most time putting time into the NoHo section move it, but if no one bothers I will since it does need to be moved. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HumanProdigy (talk • contribs) 23:39, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know about the status of different HGM programs throughout the country, but please notice that this article is about the HGM program sponsored by the Los Angeles Unified School District (and not about gifted programs in general) of which North Hollywood is the largest branch by far. Also, please sign comments on talk pages. See Wikipedia: Tutorial (Talk pages) for further instructions. Tobias087 12:21, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi.. i'm a student at NoHo. If you have a problem with NoHo having the largest section of the HGM page, you can edit it. Thats the point of Wikipedia. I have added a section on Mr. Toy because questions about this teacher have flooded the minds of all prospective students and parents and come up at every school event for prospective students. Again, if there are other HGMers around the country, you can edit the page to your liking, but please keep NoHo material in tact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.87.179.245 (talk) 20:29, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
No Citations
editThis entire article has no citations whatsoever. It appears to be written in violation of NPOV as well. Why should one single school receive it's own article when this name applies to many other schools all over the United States and Indian Territories? I believe this article should be deleted if not sourced. ShamenWeb (talk) 20:46, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- I pared the copy down, but yes, it might be best to be moved to North Hollywood Highly Gifted Magnet, and turn Highly Gifted Magnet into a general article with a list of HGMs elsewhere. tedder (talk) 08:09, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
