Aircraft or kit?

edit

The article is a bit confusing. It talks about the fuselage being made of composites, and describes it dimensions in detail, which implies the fuselage is part of the kit. However, the description of the kit doesn't list the fuselage. My initial assumption was that this is an upgrade/conversion kit for a RotorWay Exec, in which the customer provides the already-existing helicopter. If that's correct, the article, especially the lead, need to be clarified to make this. distinction clear. Thanks. BilCat (talk) 22:21, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

The design and development section does say The aircraft was designed as a conversion kit for the Rotorway Exec, to convert it to turbine power... but let me add some thing to the led to clarify from the start. - Ahunt (talk) 22:38, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I read that too, but it was unclear in the lead, which you've now fixed. Thanks. I'm not used to writing on homebuilts or kits, so I didn't try to fix it myself, as I'm unclear on the legal differences and niceties. Since you'd recently edited the page, I figured you'd fix it when you had time. :) BilCat (talk) 23:11, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
No sweat you caught me doing template updates here today! Does it read clearly enough now? I am trying to convey that it is a kit to convert a piston helicopter to turbine power, but the resulting aircraft, while using the same airframe has improved specs and is a fairly improved aircraft. - Ahunt (talk) 23:15, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I think so. What isn't really clear is whether or not they actually sold any! That isn't your fault. It does, however, make me wonder if this is notable enough for a separate article, or should just be merged into the variants of the Exec article. BilCat (talk) 23:20, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Actually it is your fault, as you wrote the article! I mixed it up with another article I looked at today that you've edited over the years, but didn't write. So much for AGF! ;) BilCat (talk) 23:25, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yep, I get almost 100% of the blame for this one! - Ahunt (talk) 23:32, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I just went though the FAA aircraft registry and found 26 turbine powered Execs, but given the way amateur-builts are registered it is very hard to determine how many are this particular conversion kit, other kits or owner-designed installations. I can say that there are no more than 26 in the US, although there may be many more in other countries. - Ahunt (talk) 23:43, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks. BilCat (talk) 23:59, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
