Against a merger
editIt is perfectly valid to have an article about 'Hinduism in England' as well a separate article about 'Hinduism in the United Kingdom'. Other 'topics' are able to have an article about the 'topic in England' as well as the 'topic in the United Kingdom' - why should Hinduism be different? - Buddhism in england and Sikhism in england both redirect to the "in the united kingdom" articles. IThere is no reason for Hinduism not to match. Also, the article about 'Hinduism in the UK' is mostly about Hinduism in England (because the Hindu centre(s) in the UK are in England) so the article contents basically overlap.MairAW (talk) 02:54, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- I understand your point about the overlap of content. However, rather than redirect, would it not be better to change the Hinduism in the UK article to a disambiguation page that provides links to Hinduism in England and Hinduism in Scotland? I notice that this is what happens with the History of the Jews in the United Kingdom article. Cheers Fishiehelper2 (talk) 18:04, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- I guess, if the articles are both significant alone, then that would also work. MairAW (talk) 14:18, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

- Don't understand why you have placed that comment here - shouldn't it be in Talk:Hinduism in the United Kingdom? 86.165.95.210 (talk) 16:45, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Improvements to article
editI just noticed this article because of the AfD. I "voted" to keep it. However I think it could be improved. For one thing it could be more clear on the fact that Hindus in England include both people whose families immigrated from India and other countries and English people who have converted to Hinduism. It could also mention the influence of Hinduism on English culture, for instance the large number of English people who believe in "reincarnation" and "karma." Kitfoxxe (talk) 13:44, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
