Meher Baba

edit

Removed the sentence "Meher Baba declared his Avatarhood in 1953, but he retired in the early 1960s, and thus became only marginally involved in the New Age boom of the 1960s counter-culture." because: (a) Meher Baba was not Hindu, but born Zoroastrian, and never identified as Hindu. (b) Meher Baba said he was the Avatar/Christ/Buddha and other terms as early as 1930. (c) Meher Baba never retired; rather he was in seclusion doing what he called "inner work" in the late 60s and was in correspondence with Timothy Leary and other counterculture formers (c) Baba had an affect on the 60s counterculture and to refer to it as "marginal" lacks NPOV. His image is even in the film Woodstock. (d) Meher Baba's movement, what there is of it, is not a Neo-Hindu movement. His main books were published in his lifetime by Sufism Reoriented in San Francisco. Dazedbythebell (talk) 19:09, 15 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
