editWhile New International Encyclopedia states that he wrote a book in 1865, that may be a misprint. The Land of Gold may have been written in 1855. GhostofSuperslum 15:05, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
"Prospect of Class Divisions" ?
editQuote from the article: "Nonetheless the mere prospect of class divisions within the white community was enough to lead many Southerners who had previously been opponents of secession to embrace it after the election of Abraham Lincoln." I am uncertain what this means, but, after several readings of the paragraph, get the impression it is mis-written. Can anybody clarify this? What is being said? I think the claim that resistance to Confederate rule was confined to a few pockets is disputed. cf. "Bitterly Divided the South's Inner Civil War" by David Williams, The New Press 2008.I have read elsewhere that SC was the only state that didn't form regiments of Union Volunteers. |

Was really racist
editNoonday exigencies in America explains his desire for a white south, he was upset that white immigrants were staying north. In NO Joque he wanted to keep America as white as possible, stating that all other races would go extinct. He was a white nationalist. 2601:40B:8400:D830:204C:C868:F549:929F (talk) 00:05, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
