The original translation from the French Wikipedia was sadly botched, so I retranslated it from scratch. I'm unsure about a couple of issues:
ordonnateur de la marine — I've translated as "purser" though the latter is properly commissaire de la marine. Is there a better English term?
maître de forges — I chose "manufacturer" over "mill-owner".
Compagnie du chemin de fer d’Orléans — of the several railway companies of Orléans the only one that seems early enough is the Chemin de Fer de Paris à Orléans.
I glossed the affaire Pritchard based on its description at fr:Affaire Pritchard.
