Hipposideros rotalisLaotian leaf-nosed bat – Per WP:FNAME, the article title should be the most common name on the English Wikipedia. öBrambleberry of RiverClan 19:32, 27 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Oppose - From my research when creating the page, Hipposideros rotalis is more commonly use in the reliable sources that the English name. Laotian leaf-nosed bat has no references in scholarly articles. As an aside though, it really annoys me that whenever I create an article with the Latin binomial people want to change it to the English name and whenever I create one with the English name people want to change it to the Latin name. The naming conventions about these really obscure animals that hardly anyone's heard/written about should maybe be clearer. Sarahj2107 (talk) 20:27, 27 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
It does, it created redirects for both the English names I found, Laotian leaf-nosed bat and Laotian Roundleaf Bat. Sarahj2107 (talk) 11:33, 29 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. The situation with this bat is similar to that with most mammals: compendia such as the Red List and Mammal Species of the World list it under the scientific name and mention an English name, everyone else almost invariably discusses it under the scientific name.
