Japanese

edit

I know the kanji/romaji part is crap... give me a break. I don't even speak Japanese. Aug. 22, 2004; -plexus

Thanks for trying anyway; I put some stuff in for more completeness. SWalkerTTU 03:55, 23 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Is it standard to present the team's name in English as "Carp" rather than "Carps" as we would with an American team? Kortoso (talk) 17:13, 31 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Japanese has no plurals, of course. As an anecdotal note, however, I'm currently living in Japan, and my Japanese neighbors who speak a little English all pluralize "Carps" when speaking to me. That said, every official source I can find, including newspapers, do not place an "s" at the end of "Carp", which sounds so freakin' weird to me, but there we have it. We can only report on what others have reported, and all 3rd party sources seem to fail to include the "s", so my anecdote would be OR at best, and is likely not even representative of Japanese preferences as a whole. "Carp" is both singular and plural in English as well. oknazevad (talk) 13:07, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Redirection reversal

edit

The original setup had "Hiroshima Toyo Carp" redirect to "Hiroshima Carp". This was the opposite of Wikipedia logic, as well as of the particular arrangement of the redirection in the Japanese Wikipedia. "Hiroshima Toyo Carp" is still the official name of the club, and has been since the late 1960s—likely when the Matsudas took over.SWalkerTTU 03:53, 23 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unclear sentence

edit

Under "the Dark Ages" there is this line:

"The Hiroshima Carp was the last Japanese team to have a non-Japanese player on its roster (excluding Japanese-Americans)."

What does this mean? It can't mean what I think it does, because I think most if not all of the Japanese baseball teams have foreign players. I think this needs to be made clearer or removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.102.61.97 (talk) 23:41, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think perhaps it was meant to mean "The Hiroshima Carp was the last Japanese team to have NO non-Japanese players." but if so the line in the article needs to be changed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.102.61.97 (talk) 01:09, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Colors

edit

How do we update the colors to be red and red? Hiroshima's color scheme has no blue anymore. RingoSB (talk) 14:39, 16 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
