Outline
editI'm excited - If there is ever an article that has a future as a featured article, this is it. Here is a quick outline of topics that we can address. Its been quite a while since my Wyoming history class in 4th grade, so forgive me if I miss something important. I'm not sure what protocol is here - I don't know if these should go in as subject headers in the article proper, or if all that should happen here. Please feel free to move it if you wish. Name
editOffhand, I see no stmt. about the origin of name Wyoming. The main article about the state gives it (in section History). This one should do so as well, at the top of the article.
Incorrect spelling of the Wyoming territory's motto in the depiction of the coat of arms
editThe Wyoming territory's motto was CEDANT ARMA TOGAE, which is a quotation from Cicero’s De officiis, book 1, chapter 77. However, the inscription below the coat of arms depicted in the box to the right reads OEDANT ARMA TOGA, which is pure nonsense. According to the copyright note the Wyoming territory's coat of arms was created by Henry Mitchell in 1876 and “restored“ for Wikipedia by user Godot13. So either Henry Mitchell got it wrong in the first place (which is not very likely, given the official purpose of his work) or user Godot13 simply transcribed (or “restored“) what he believed the spelling was, though obviously without speaking Latin himself.92.79.101.164 (talk) 12:56, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
