History of display technology → Display examples – The page is and has always been meant to show what display technologies that are available. The introduction year is a helpful side note, not the primary subject. Any historic description should be on a separate article as it will make it harder than otherwise to get a quick overview. Preferably a subcategory. I request that the article be renamed to its original name. Electron9 (talk) 19:23, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose Article as it stands shows the progressive history of displays. 'Display examples' sounds like a description of a subsection of an article, not an article itself. The comments of both AfDs suggested that the name 'Display examples' was incorrect, and that it needed to be renamed. - SudoGhost (talk) 19:39, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose: Both Display device and Category:Display technology already provide such a list of display technologies. Also, as noted in the AfD, Wikipedia is not an image gallery. A historical perspective provides more context and makes the article more meaningful than just a gallery of images. Casablanca2000in (talk) 20:46, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- Move of course ;) Electron9 (talk) 12:21, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose - The previous AFDs show a belief that the article content provides a base from which to build a timeline or history of display technologies. The title "History of display technology" accurately reflects this whereas "Display examples" is pushing this article back into the image gallery arena. -- Whpq (talk) 13:40, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- Delete/Merge if this is only "display examples", it should be deleted or merged into the main article. The only way this is a viable article is if it is a timeline. 65.94.45.160 (talk) 05:17, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Thin film transistor picture?
editIn the caption for the thin film transistor, the year is 1968. That laptop is not from 1968 and laptops were not common at that time. I do not know much about said monitor, but perhaps someone else does? Lekro (talk) 11:15, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- The year is the year when the technology were invented. Not the photo example. Electron9 (talk) 02:14, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

merge this to the Display device page
editThere is no history section on the Display device page. I originally went there to find the history but to my surprise there was nothing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sfmth (talk • contribs) 14:44, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
