Assessment

edit

I have assessed this as Start Class, as it contains more detail and organization than would be expected of a Stub, and of low importance, as it is a highly specialized topic within Canada. Cheers, CP 05:40, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fraser and other BC floods

edit

Noting changes made to section heads on the Fraser floods (in BC we'd just say "Fraser Flood of 1894" etc); invariably flooding in teh Lower Fraser Valey is preceded by flooding in the Upper Fraser or in the Thompson basin; the 2007 freshet spared the Lower Mainland, but flooded parts of Prince George; at other times Kamloops has been flooded also towns up the North Thompson from it, not sure which years. A copule of times in the last tewenty years the Lillooet River has flooded the Pemberton Valley, including the one very spectacular inundation which turned Nairn Falls into a temporary Niagara; M Creek Floods is how the events of 1982 are often desribed, though "flood" in teh sense of flatland flooded out wasn't the case (otehr than in the Pemberton Valley and the Paradise Valley area of Squamish, maybe in central Squamish too); the M Creek Floods were dozens (and I do mean dozens) of major washouts caused by torrential debris flows - "flood" is such a mild term.....M Creek definitely deserves an article, not just around the core disaster/accident but also the Culliton Creek Bridge foundation-washout and about 25 washouts just within the Resort Municipality of Whistler). There have also been flooding assocaited with the Fraser flood/freshet on the Stuart/Endako at times....I t hink the Skeena has also seen flooding, not sure about the Peace.....Skookum1 (talk) 16:47, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
