Misleading statement:
editDepending on the question asked, opinion polls have shown Australians have mixed feelings towards the monarchy. Some polls show a majority of Australians support the creation of a republic, while others show a majority favour retaining the current system. Generally, however, in recent years, the prevailing mood towards the monarchy suggested by most polls is one of indifference or apathy. A poll taken in early 2007 showed support for a change to republic at its lowest level since the early 1990s.Steketee, Mike; The Australian: Republican cause needs King Charles; 27 January 2007
The poll quoted states that 45% were in favour of a republic in 2007, as opposed to 36% against and (presumably) 19% indifferent. There is danger in drawing conclusions from one poll. But aside from that, it is misleading then to state 'in recent years, the prevailing mood towards the monarchy suggested by most polls is one of indifference or apathy'. Apathy represents not 20%. Hardly the 'prevailing mood'. So I will delete the unhelpful paragraph.--Gazzster (talk) 05:34, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Queen of Australia
editThe photo of Elizabeth II in the article is not a photo of the Queen of Australia. It is a photo of the Queen of Canada. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.37.212.89 (talk) 07:09, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well spotted! The Maple Leaf is unfurled gloriously in the background. We do need more portraits of Her Maj.--Gazzster (talk) 09:01, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Precolonial period
editWere there no monarchies or monarchy-like reigns in Australia prior to the establishment of British rule? It seems this article is somewhat one-sided. ♆ CUSH ♆ 14:13, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
- If there were, evidence of them is most welcome.<Mdw0 (talk) 07:04, 9 November 2016 (UTC)>
