I moved the old text to Talk:History of rail transport in North America/old, since it needs a complete rewrite, which I'm going to start on. --NE2 07:17, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Merger Proposal
editThis article seems entirely unnecessary. The original article doesn't appear to mention Canada or Mexico, and is under the category "...by country" so the material should be merged into History of rail transport in the United States. Chris55 (talk) 11:33, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
- Agree. The History of rail transport in North America is focused on early 19th c. US railroads, while the History of rail transport in the United States is stronger on late-19th c. & 20th c. US railroading. This would be a good fit, although more discussion and references are needed in various areas. Caseyjonz (talk) 06:47, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Merger Proposal
editI disagree. I think we need to add some info on Canada and Mexico. I know a lot about Canadian Railroads and will add in some info about them soon... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.206.27.44 (talk) 06:21, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- I concur with this anonymous IP. Canada's status as a Dominion of the British Empire gives them a railroad history separate from that of the US. ----DanTD (talk)
This might be a suitable disambiguation to:
- History of rail transport
- History of rail transport in Canada
- History of rail transport in Mexico (if created)
- History of rail transport in the Dominion of Newfoundland (if created, would primarily be Newfoundland Railway)
- History of rail transport in the United States
I've pointed this to History of rail transport for now. K7L (talk) 04:24, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
