editwhat would be the cost of having a phone in the year 1878?
- I think it was something on the order of twenty or thirty dollars a month. Much cheaper than hiring a private telegraphist. Wires to connect to another telephone would be extra, not provided by the telephone company. Jim.henderson 12:32, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
In December 1901, Marconi established wireless communication between Britain and the Newfoundland, Canada, earning him the Nobel prize in 1909. Read the source again and make the correction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.74.192.139 (talk) 22:34, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello Everyone, This page is almost entirely technical in nature which is of course important. However I can find nothing in Wikipedia concerning the business, social and political aspects of telecommunications. Is this worth considering. I came to it to add a perspective on "The Rise and Fall of Nortel" which I can provide. Also companies like AT&T with it's subsidiary Bell Labs hosted many profound scientific discoveries, isn't it worth recording the business model and the history of how that occurred.
