editI think this should come under Minimum Wage. It just doesn't hold enough ground as its own article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wipkipkedia (talk • contribs) 06:28, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. In particular, neither this article nor Minimum wage give enough information on the motivations behind minimum wage laws. Were they designed to increase the wages given to workers who would otherwise get less than market rates? Or was it (more) to protect higher-paid workers from competition?
- Also, of particular interest to urban Americans: what has been the effect of the minimum wage on black employment? Does the minimum wage help or hurt black workers? Some say it makes it harder for black teenagers to get their first job(s); it decreases or retards upward mobility. Can we find reliable sources who say this, or is it just blog fodder? --Uncle Ed (talk) 13:44, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
Pres. Johnson
editThe news keeps talking about Pres. Johnson establishing the Minimum Wage. This article does not mention him. That discrepancy needs explaining. I am off to find the explanation .... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.181.46.157 (talk) 13:55, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
