editI made the change a couple days ago to add in the reference to the Nike advert, but upon review I see that that reference existed and was removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.15.7.151 (talk) 01:22, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Hocus Pocus II
editThis theme was recorded as the B-side of the US single of "Hocus Pocus" in 1973, not 1972. The A-side is the same edit from the album that the original single was. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.246.125.95 (talk) 18:29, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
Edit/re-recording?
editIs the single version a re-recording of the track, or an edited version of the album track? Gwladys24 (talk) 00:41, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Response: — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.187.214.210 (talk) 20:55, 31 July 2015 (UTC) The original single is an edited version of the album track from 1971. The B-side of the US single was recorded in 1973 as a faster version. It appears on CD on the IRS label's 1988 issue of the "Ship of Memories" album (LP released in 1976, consisting of tracks from 1970, 1973, and 1975).
Instrumental? Since when?
editThe song alternates hard rock instrumental passages with maniacal yodelling by van Leer. It's a toss-up which is more memorable.
Instrumentals do not have vocals for half the song. Varlaam (talk) 17:57, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
Gary Hoey anyone? His cover reached the Billboard Top 5 in 1993? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.245.211.31 (talk) 05:05, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
Where's the Used in Media gone?
editAm I going mad or didn't there used to be a list of films, ads, Tv programmes, etc., that this song appeared in? I remember adding one from a UK fantasy comedy series. It's all gone now and no Talk about where it went. If I'm not mistaken, wots the point of contributing to Wikipeedia if it all vanishes into web rot in just a year ot two? 2A00:23C5:D530:4D01:68A2:B46E:F801:E841 (talk) 22:46, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
- Im replying to myself, and anyone else out there, 'cos I've wasted half a day on this and have better things to do than learn to be a wikipedia expert. I found some editor called Binksternet had deleted a large section of "Use in media" that up 13 kind people had added becuase they'd heard Hocus Pocus in films or TV programmes, probably enjoyed it there and thought others might too.
- Well Binksternet thought these people's contributions were "poorly referenced, unreferenced, unimportant cover versions and pop culture". What do the references matter when it's just a bit of fun for a 65 year old to go and find a TV show with her favorite song in? Why does Binsternet think this is uninmportant? Frankly I may find everything he's written unimportant, but he has the right to say it and I the right to ignore it, but nobody should vandalise others' work. 2A00:23C5:D530:4D01:CC85:354D:44AD:F00B (talk) 17:23, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
- I dont know anything much about these comments but this is a very cool song with some serious vocal gymnastics. I remember first hearing and seeing it performed on a tv show back in the '70s, I believe? It is truly an underrated song and worth listening to and marvelling about from time to time. 2600:1700:9310:48F0:84F5:8412:4FA8:F8DE (talk) 19:23, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
