Talk:Hogan's Heroes (band)
This page was proposed for deletion by an editor in the past with the comment: the article was created by someone who was very likely a band member and has sock-puppeted their information onto many pages in the past, (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard/Archive_91#Hogan's_Heroes_(band) ). The band does not seem notable, no content regarding them in any detail on the web, and the text references included are not verifiable, they seem to be news excerpts compiled by the band member from small or local publications from many years ago. In publications I could look up, it was mere mentions of releases having occurred, not discussion of the band itself in any detail. I'm fairly certain the only person who can verify most of this information is the person who originally created the article. Most of the text references are from passing one-sentence mentions in maximumrockandroll magazine. They can be found on https://archive.org/details/maximumrnr. These are not enough to claim notability. Here are some other text references that were provided. They aren't sufficient. https://archive.org/details/razorcake_31/page/n87 https://archive.org/details/flipside_67/page/n1?q=hogan%27s+heroes+built+to+last https://archive.org/details/flipside_69/page/n105?q=hogan%27s+heroes+built+to+last After reviewing as many of the text references as I could find (which were originally added by the sock puppeteer), I have found all of them were trivial references to the band's existence, and not enough to claim notability. Similarly, the remaining web references are just listings of the band having released something at some point. These aren't sufficient to claim notability. It was contested by Kvng (talk · contribs) on 2019-10-11 with the comment: Wrong deletion venue. This may qualify for speedy deletion. Contested deletion
editThis article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because I have the necessary media and links to supply to prove whatever needs to be, Im just currently, not at the level to do this is in one shot like I usually do Everything else. This is actually hard so far. Also they have two or more releases on a label with notable bands, some of the bands on this bands label have been on MTV, so thats notable and can be proven, I can prove it right here at wikipedia or somewhere, Im sure, with a link. sorry Im not better at this yet. please dont delete the page , just one compilation alone this band is on is well over 100,000 units. Contested deletion
editThis article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because They were a part of the first wave of New Jersey hardcore which started by 1980. heres how the New Jersey Hardcore music history is broken up, and how the first wave is referenced. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Jersey_hardcore CombatMarshmallow (talk) 04:48, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
http://feralhouse.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/ah_excerpt2.pdf this book American hardcore out on feral house, on page 284 , when speaking of the beginning few years it gets to 1985 and say "Tom's Rivers' Hogan's Heroes were making waves" ...on page 284
from this movie where they interviewed everyone from bad brains singer to jon stewart to the singer of hogans heroes where they refer in this write up as "Skip School of the seminal skate punk band Hogan’s Heroes"...I Probably should have used references like these. from new jersey . com http://www.nj.com/mercer/index.ssf/2011/08/no_slam_dancing_no_stage_divin.html
about 11 sections down , a little over half the page...I could copy paste the paragraph here then you can find it easy on the article if you need me to. CombatMarshmallow (talk) 04:44, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

a new approach
editI think a solution could be I could re write the beginning bio, which I still was going to add a history section the page was no way near done, but I could re write the bio and say and show , the band was seminal, and use nj.com as a reference, I could show they were one of the first hardcore bands ever in the state of new jersey, and I could show an ad from a magazine that shows "88,000 copies sold" for a compilation...or some thing else. This is actually pretty hard , so far. Ill Get good at it, Im shooting for great. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CombatMarshmallow (talk • contribs) 04:53, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Contested deletion
editThis article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because "Please help to establish notability by adding reliable, secondary sources about the topic." was just posted to the page and I was in the process of doing Just That, also finding a better way to host the pictures. CombatMarshmallow (talk) 04:56, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
I think it should be put into my "user space" even though Im not sure where that is I was reading that I could develope the page there before going "live" with it and get other opinions and help developing it properly. so If it has to be removed before worked on let's save it and allow me the proper space and time to make it as real as any. I didnt realize I would pretty much fail again and need assistance and to read and kind of study those articles.CombatMarshmallow (talk) 05:07, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

2 incarnations
editIt looks like there are 2 incarnations of this band (it is hinted at on the 101/3 fists page but not discussed here). I added a note about it so it makes sense why that release is not discussed on this page. Please do not delete it. BeastmasterGeneral 23:57, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
added a note where. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.39.152.45 (talk) 02:24, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
Connected contributors
editThis article appears to have been largely written and heavily defended by connected contributors including CombatMarshmallow who seems to be also contributing from IPs in New Jersey where the band lives, especially the following IPs:

Please keep an eye out for further disruption from New Jersey IPs. Binksternet (talk) 19:35, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
- Those aren't "connected" contributors. Keep looking theres nothing to find. The band is from New Jersey I would assumed some edits would be from there.CombatMarshmallow (talk) 19:56, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
