editNow that the final regulations have been announced the contents of the pack require updating. We also know the specific order in which they have to appear now. Cameronjamesburns 14:28, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Cost beneficiaries?
editI've dispute tagged the last Cost sentence:
The main beneficiaries may be first-time buyers, since they will benefit from the information without having to pay for a HIP on an existing property.
and put these comments: cite authority that shows property sellers will not incorporate HIP in price; this statement illogical, surely? -84.223.118.236 12:42, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, it doesn't necessarily follow - UK property prices essentially follow supply and demand and so a happy medium will be naturally arrived at. Assertion is uncited anyway, so removal is justified.--A bit iffy 11:07, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Name should be "Home Information Pack"?
editLinks to various external sites I've looked at so far indicate the "i" and the "p" should be capitalised. So, if no one says why not, I'll go ahead and rename the article accordingly in the next few days.--A bit iffy 11:02, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- Nobody objected, so I renamed it.--A bit iffy 13:43, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
merging and renaming sections
editI've done a fair bit of work on the article over the last day or so. Amongst other things, I've renamed "Introduction of pack" to "History", and moved the Timeline section up to the top, prior to merging it into the new history section. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 12:19, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- ...also, there are 8 {{citation needed}} tags in the article, and the whole timeline section is unreferenced. If anyone can find a reliable source for any of them, that would really help. You can copy and paste this citation template into the article, filling in the bits after the equals signs:
- <ref>{{cite web |url= |title= |publisher= |date=[[200]] |accessdate=2007-08-02 |quote=}}</ref>
- ...or you can just leave a link here, and I'll put it in the article. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 12:34, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- Update: I've done some more work on the article. I've merged the Timeline section, mostly into the History section. There are now 28 references on the page (hooray), and 13 {{citation needed}} tags - I've finished adding them so until more text is added that's the final tally. I'm hoping that if we can find those references we can try to get to good article status. To meet the good article criteria, as well as finishing the references, we'll need to improve the quality of the prose. If we can find any, we could do with some pictures, but I'm not sure that's possible. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 19:52, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Fiirst Paragraph
editShould'nt the first paragraph be in present tense, instead of future?

edit"Conveyancer" and "gazuming" should be defined where they appear in the article. I believe these are terms not used outside the British Isles. VisitorTalk 15:05, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Wrong article!
editHIPS is the well-known shorthand for "Host-based Intrusion Prevention System", which is a new kind of computer system monitoring technology, touted as the future of anti-virus defence. 82.131.210.162 (talk) 13:58, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
"Well Known" by whom? Everyone I know would know HIPS as Home Information Packs and not the above. While none of us are anti-virus programmers a couple of us have degrees in IT, by far the most common use of HIPS would be home information packs, being that 99.99% of the populace has never heard of "Host-based Intrusion Prevention System". Paying extra for H.I.P free properties.
editShould there be a section describing the 'black market premium' for properties that are free from the H.I.P stigma? I am aware of many instances of people paying a premium for properties that do not have an H.I.P The extra cost and 'red tape' that this socialist legislation has imposed on the house buying process is being evaded wherever possible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.9.138.200 (talk) 23:21, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- I think the political rhetoric in the above comment gives us the answer: no, I don't think there should be. 87.112.14.158 (talk) 10:18, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
HIPs' contribution to 2008-9 housing crisis
editI've removed an assertion that HIPs have contributed to the 2008-9 housing crisis primarily because it's unsourced. Also, the term "contributed" isn't qualified to indicate their significance so as it stands does not convey meaning.--A bit iffy (talk) 17:18, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

References to Home Reports in Scotland
editI would like to add in a citation to an article describing what a Home Report is in Scotland. The Home Information Pack is not Scottish and the equivalent Scottish version - The Home Report- is not discussed anywhere on Wikipedia. So for people in Scotland trying to understand what is required to sell a house, all they have is information relating to England. There is one citation in the current article which provides information about legislation in Scotland, but no practical information. I feel strongly that Scottish sellers should have access to information alongside those in England.
The citation I want to add is What is a Home Report? LouiseHRC (talk) 11:36, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
Can I do this?
LouiseHRC (talk) 16:26, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
- No. The link is to a commercial company selling home reports. There is a clear conflict of interest. . . Mean as custard (talk) 16:54, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
