According to the article on the Attorney General for England and Wales, the passage of this act ceased the attorney general's requirement to prosecute all poisoning cases. Home & Scottish Secretaries

An excellent article, but I have removed the previous reference to the Home Secretary deciding on capital sentences for both England & Wales and for Scotland. Deciding whether or not to let the law 'take its course' in Scotland was the responsibility of the Secretary of State for Scotland, not the Home Secretary. --Twofathoms (talk) 23:42, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
