Societal attitudes towards homosexuality deals with social attitudes and is very political and theological in nature, while the present article offers various social facts and perspectives on human factors. The two article's scope, while parallel, do not meet each other.

Exactly, one covers predominantly anti-homosexual views, the other is mostly about social factors where such anti-homosexual views are not dominant (although it does mention violence, etc). If you read the guidelines, it is recommended that articles about 'attitudes' be avoided, for precisely the reason that they tend towards being a WP:SOAP. The best way to neutralise this is to allow all the social content sit together in the one article. Mish (talk) 23:41, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Per this diff, the {{Merge to}} tag was removed from Societal attitudes toward homosexuality on 30 June 2012; "no discussion for 2 years". The attitudes article is quite long at 88,763 bytes and is significantly longer than this article (46,263 bytes). This article should be a broad overview, with a limited summary on attitudes that links to the other article for the more in-depth discussion of attitudes. I'm removing the merge tag.
