I know this isn't a chat site . . . .
editBut what a dork! Is he really this famous? The only place I've ever seen this guy is on Youtube when searching for 'laowai', I've never seen it mentioned on a Chinese chat site . . . —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.7.25.232 (talk) 14:48, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
notable?
editI question this man's celebrity status. I live in China and had never heard of him before finding a video by chance (searched for 学习雷锋 on youtube). Even if he has some degree of internet celebrity, surely that alone doesn't merit a Wikipedia article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.173.98.250 (talk) 08:46, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

YT channel sold
editI stayed subscribed to his YT channel and it just went live w/ a random stream(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzlCOtPkXvo) of 4 panelists including Elon Musk & Cathie Woods discussing cryptocurrencies. the channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/honglaowai) has its name changed(not reflected in URL) to "ARK Invest"(fund founded by Cathie), and all prev videos by 红老外 deleted. this confuses me for many reasons. I assume this channel was created by a fan to mirror his vids on YT? and they figured it doesn't matter anymore almost 15y later, so sold it for a few quick bucks? a quick YT search shows >=3 other channels w/ unique names in their URLs but now named under ARK Invest live w/ the same content. so apparently ARK Invest is buying random channels to stream their stuff. very weird and shoddy Zoklev (talk) 18:48, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
