Whose face is on the album cover? It doesn't look like Elton... --ozzmosis 10:09, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is. --Fantailfan (talk) 13:38, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I found a couple of the brass section (Ivan Jullien and Jacques Bolognesi) on the french Wiki, and added links. I'm not sure how best to display them, though, and have added "(fr.)" after each name. I hope this is ok, or someone change it to whatever is expected so's I can see what should be done. Peter Ward (talk) 18:40, 17 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Semi-literacy of Wikipedia editors and posters

edit

Who the hell writes this crap? "This is the first album ... not to feature strings on any songs, except for violinist Jean-Luc Ponty on 'Mellow' and 'Amy'."

"Any" songs? If it really did not feature strings on any songs, you idiot, then there would be no "except for..."

Axiom: the closer to pop culture the topic in Wikipedia, the worse the scholarship and the more execrable the writing.

"Sides one and two were combined as tracks 1–10 on CD reissues".... genius. Has this ever happened elsewhere? We need to know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.198.42.133 (talk) 18:15, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Lucky Dube

edit

The writing credit for the song Slave includes Elton John, Bernie Taupin, and Lucky Dube. Is this a different Lucky Dube than the one born in 1964 who turned 8 the year this album came out? BMI's web site and the single (B-side of "Honky Cat") show only Elton John and Taupin, so I will remove this credit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.83.146.137 (talk) 01:25, 9 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

chronology

edit

The article on Elton’s album “Madman Across the Water” refers at least twice to it being EJ's fourth studio album. According to the sequence laid out in the "chronology" info box, as well as the information provided in the articles on the individual previous albums, it is his fifth studio album. I edited that article to reflect that, but reverted the edit after seeing that the numbering of subsequent albums – including this one – seems to follow the "Madman" chronology. (This article describes "Honky" as fifth, rather than sixth. Maybe it's a mistake... maybe it's a "UK releases vs US releases" thing, given that Empty Sky wasn't released in the US until '75... but whatever the reason I felt that I am not qualified to change an entire string of entries.
