Expanded draft for consideration

edit

Over the past few months, I've been working with Honor to improve the brand article as well as those for specific phone models. On behalf of Honor, I'd like to propose some improvements to the Huawei Honor 9 article, which is currently underdeveloped and inappropriately sourced. The draft I've proposed here very closely resembles the Huawei Honor 8 and Huawei Honor 8 Pro articles, and offers an overview of the model's specifications, release, and reception. Based on the Honor 8 and Honor 8 Pro articles, I've learned what editors expect in a Wikipedia article about a phone, so I'm hoping this draft will be quick and easy to review.

For the "Reception" section, I tried keeping content as neutral as possible by only including ratings and review summaries offered by the authors themselves (as opposed to me cherrypicking from various sources to construct a summary using original wording). Each of these ratings and quotations are easily verifiable, and are usually seen at the very top or bottom of each source. I suppose the quotations could be eliminated altogether, but I think having the short review summaries gives some additional context, so the section is more than just a list of ratings by various sources.

@Pbsouthwood, Kvng, and Jcc: You three were very helpful with responding to edit requests on the Huawei Honor 8 Pro talk page. I was wondering if you'd consider reviewing this draft and copying over content appropriately. The draft is not very long and should not take much time to review. I also plan to upload an image for the infobox, and can answer any questions here. Thanks again for your consideration and help. Inkian Jason (talk) 17:28, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@AthulKriZz: I see you created the Huawei Honor 6X article. Do you have any interest in taking a look at this draft for the Huawei Honor 9? @Snowsky419 and JB525: Also pinging you, since you helped with the Huawei Honor 8 article. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 16:14, 30 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@D4R1U5: I see you worked on the Huawei Mate 10 article. Do you have any interest in taking a look at my proposed draft for the Huawei Honor 9 article here? I am looking for someone to copy over the proposed markup to replace the existing Honor 9 article appropriately. If you're not interested, I will ping some additional members of technology-related WikiProjects. Thanks for your consideration. Inkian Jason (talk) 18:37, 28 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Inkian Jason: The quality of the write-up is great. Instead of copying the entire markup, we can request an admin to move the edit history and the markup. For now, I’ve made some improvements to the infobox, but am a bit busy. I’ll see to it after a few hours. D4R1U5 (talk) 01:42, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Emir of Wikipedia: Could you please help with the moving of User:Inkian Jason/Huawei Honor 9 to Huawei Honor 9? D4R1U5 (talk) 09:39, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@D4R1U5: Looks like a copy and paste move happened. An admin will have to do deal with it now, but the hist merge tag should alert them to this. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 11:49, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Emir of Wikipedia: Ok. D4R1U5 (talk) 12:05, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@D4R1U5: Thank you for your help. I noticed the categories need to be fixed, but hopefully this will be resolved in the process of the history merge. I'll mark this edit request as 'answered' once the banner is removed from the top of the article. Thanks again for reviewing the draft. Inkian Jason (talk) 16:45, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

I see the tag has been removed, so I am marking this edit request as answered. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 22:59, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Title

edit

I think it is wrong to say "Huawei Honor 9", Honor phones are do not carry the "Huawei" name (even though they are from the same company). It should be just "Honor 9". --MK (talk) 06:15, 3 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

@MK8: Hi, I'm not sure if your comment is directed at me, or expressed in general, but I happen to agree, as evidenced by my request to move the "Huawei Honor" article to "Honor (brand)" here: Talk:Honor (brand). I've created or improved a few articles about Honor phones, and I've used "Huawei" in the titles for consistency, but I would not be opposed to dropping "Huawei" from the titles. You'd have to gain consensus though, especially to move so many pages, and I am not exactly sure how or where that conversation needs to take place. If you start a discussion anywhere, please let me know. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 15:54, 4 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
