Expansion
editThe stations on this line contain considerably more detailed information relating to this line. I'm not convinced this is even the proper name of the line, after all its 50/50 which services go to Helsby/Warrington. Further information could involve adding older pictures, track layouts, freight capacity, (see Ince and Elton article for freight info), reasons for shortening services from Hooton, future electrification plans from Merseytravel in their Local Transport Plan, the type of rolling stock used, the campaign groups, i.e. www.mcrc.co.nr/www.ncrug.co.uk
Just generally needs updating to reflect its increasing important especially as the areas surrounding the line are becoming more and more developed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.242.131.111 (talk) 16:08, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Discontinuation of services to Liverpool
editJust a quick note to say that as of the December 2008 timetable, the services to and from Liverpool Lime Street via Warrington Bank Quay and Earlstown have been withdrawn. Two of the four services to Helsby extend beyond there to Warrington on weekdays (with one of these being curtailed at Helsby on Saturday.) Likewise, only one service to Ellesmere Port originates fro Warrington. I haven't edited the page to relflect this as it's possible they may reinstate the service for the Summer timetable. Here's a link to a PDF timetable showing no service to Lverpool. (You'll need to scroll to the last few pages.) http://www.northernrail.org/pdfs/timetables/20081117/15.pdf
External links modified
editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Ellesmere Port to Warrington Line. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20071027044710/http://www.chester.gov.uk/PDF/Planning-quinn-glass.pdf to http://www.chester.gov.uk/PDF/Planning-quinn-glass.pdf
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.

Line diagram
editIt's very poor. Doesn't even show the former West Cheshire Railway branch to Mouldsworth.

Notable?
editIs this service itself notable? I would suggest moving this article to Hooton–Helsby line making it an article about the railway line which currently hasn't got its own one. --PhiH (talk) 12:40, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
Future
editPlease could this section be updated/removed as all it is doing is referencing the Northern franchise from back in 2015, it’s 2020 now and 2015 is in the past. Maurice Oly (talk) 02:35, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Hooton to Helsby?
editThe line hasn’t gone to Hooton since the late 80s, and starts at Ellesmere Port. Wouldn’t it be accurate to call it the Ellesmere Port-Helsby line? 2A00:23EE:1998:2E91:8567:EB6D:D20A:ADFF (talk) 20:49, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
- There are no through trains from Hooton to Helsby anymore but the railway line still exists. --PhiH (talk) 07:47, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
