A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on July 5, 2017. The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the video game Horizon Zero Dawn was considered the most risky out of 40 concepts pitched for development? |

editI added some review quotes in the reception topic (as the article looked very barren and desperately needed some of that) but for some reason the references at the footnotes didn't turn out that well as the others. Can someone help me with that? Thanks!
gameplay
editCan't we write "for the players" is there any rule ? Pure conSouls (talk) 17:02, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

UK release date
edit@The1337gamer: It previously said to only include UK dates if release there is "exclusive to that country or there is a large difference in the release date", but it was recently changed (without consensus?) to always include it, I suppose. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:11, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
Spoilers/Speculation etc. in Gameplay section?
editThere are some things in the current gameplay section that I would regard as story spoilers. They have been leaked on NeoGAF as well but is it necessary to keep this here? So far it's speculation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.222.25.156 (talk) 17:54, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
"Critical acclaim"
editAs of this writing, the summary from Metacritic page is "generally favorable reviews". Just before and after the game's release, IP users (and some registered users) have made edits to the article's "Reception" section stating the game received "critical acclaim" and such edits were reverted throughout several occasions. Until the game's Metascore ups to 90 (not sure if this is going to happen), Metacritic's summary should used rather than using the editor's own point of view. – Hounder4 01:43, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
If Metacritic scores are taken as the benchmark for whether a game is 'critically acclaimed', plenty of other games with less than 89 MetaCritic score have been described as 'critically acclaimed', so I don't see the point here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.47.15.113 (talk) 16:22, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
- As explained on how Metacritic scores work for games, the score of between 75 and 89 is "generally favorable reviews", while the score of 90+ is "universal acclaim". As of right now, the score for Horizon: Zero Dawn is still 89, which is "generally favorable reviews" and not "universal acclaim".– Hounder4 02:28, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
Year?
editThe article states that the game happens about 1000 years in the future, but I recall Aloy entering Faro building and the automated greeting saying Elisabet was about 35,000 years late for her meeting. Am I misremembering? It seems excessively long time period since so many buildings are still at least partially standing... Even 3,500 years might be long enough to make everything human-made unrecognizeable (assuming nobody was taking care of them). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 54.240.198.33 (talk) 23:06, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
Huh?
editBeg pardon, but what the heck does
- "... she sets out to discover the dangers that kept her sheltered."
mean? "kept her sheltered"? I can't even imagine what word was intended here. Shenme (talk)
- Sheltered: "protected from difficulties or unpleasant realities". Aloy was not allowed out of the Sacred Lands until she was anointed as a Seeker. –Cognissonance (talk) 02:40, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
Sales - sucess
editThe game sells quite well, that much is clear from the sales section. But to what extend is it an economic success? That information would be nice to add. PizzaMan (♨♨) 10:32, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
- @PizzaMan: You're talking about specific dollar value? –Cognissonance (talk) 16:34, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
- Specific numbers about profitability would be great, but unlikely. But even a statement like "profitable" or "economic success" would be nice. Right now we know they sold lots, but not how that relates to their costs. PizzaMan (♨♨) 06:03, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
- Guerrilla Games isn't a public company, and therefore is not required to disclose information like that. –Cognissonance (talk) 13:07, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
- Let's hope they still give a hint in an interview. PizzaMan (♨♨) 19:52, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Awards Table
editTried adding Ashly Burch for best gaming performance here for the Golden Joystick Awards (since it is for the game) as well as a nominee's section (because Guerrilla Games are nominated as well) but ended up screwing the table up. Would someone be able to add these?--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 17:45, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
- @QueerFilmNerd: Your GamesRadar source does not support the additions. It is simply a page for entry into the voting, nothing more. Cognissonance (talk) 14:38, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
- I can link all of them if you want me to but they're nominated for like 7 awards. They didn't really just lay them all out.
- Let's wait until all nominations are published by one reliable source. Cognissonance (talk) 00:43, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
- Alright, that sounds good. Apologies for rushing the gun, it was my bad.--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 03:56, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
- I assume this wouldn't be a good source? I've searched the internet for hours and it's the only source I can find that lists all the nominee's on one page.--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 07:22, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

I'm going to removed the "mw-collapsed" flag from it as although I'm a fairly experienced wikipedia user, at first glance it looked to me like they had no awards. Happy to put back into collapsed state by default but wondering why we'd do that? Doesn't save bandwidth or seem to help viewing content further down. TFJamMan (talk) 13:01, 14 November 2020 (UTC)
Plot consistency
editIn current form the plot is not in chronological order. It's hard to understand what happened. For example, the sacrifice of Dr. Sobeck is happening right after they went underground, while plot is already talking about Gaia reseeding Earth. This way implies it's happening after reseeding happened while the true chronological events are in form: Plague -> Battle to delay their advancement -> In parallel Project Zero Dawn is developed -> total extinction -> Gaia deployment -> Incident with door -> Dr. Sobeck sacrifice -> APOLLO purge by Faro -> Faro kills Alphas -> Gaia cracking code -> Gaia shuts down Faro robots (like after 500 years, if I understood correctly) -> Gaia reseeds Earth with life (another couple hundred years) -> Gaia starts populating Earth with humans (around 200 years before game's events) -> tribe and society -> HADES is awakened by mysterious signal -> Birth of Aloy (19 years before main game - prologue is when she's 6) -> -> Gaia sacrifices herself -> Derangement incident (Sylanes gives HADES powers - 10 years before main game so Aloy was 9) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.173.168.137 (talk) 05:20, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
PC Publisher?
editI've noticed on both Steam and GOG that the publisher is listed as PlayStation Mobile, a defunct online service, which is especially odd since PC is obviously not mobile.--Alkonium (talk) 17:20, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
Role-playing game?
editI wanted to contest labelling Horizon Zero Dawn as an action role-playing game in the article. I know we have several sources discussing the game being Guerrilla Games "first RPG" game and its incorporation of "light" RPG elements, published before and up to the game's release, but the game is about as much an RPG as other examples of AAA action-adventure games like Ghost of Tsushima are, which are not labelled as such on their respective articles. Games like these have RPG elements, but they are not fully-fledged "role-playing games" as such. Wikibenboy94 (talk) 12:47, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- WP:Otherthingsexist, basically you can't use how another article is structured to justify changes to this one.
- However you are right, IDK why this game is being labelled as an RPG when it objectively isn't. Maybe it's what the sources say. June Parker (talk) 16:18, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
Relevant deep lore.
editThere was an edit a few days ago that mentioned an event that occured in the game's lore called the "Red Raids", I would like for that bit to be reinstated because in-universe, the Red Raids and the overthrow are the reason that the Carja splintered into the Shadow Carja and Eclipse cults. I'd like to talk about it here. June Parker (talk) 16:11, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
Television series draft
editFor anyone interested/wants to help add info as it becomes available, there is currently a draft for the TV series at Draft:Horizon (upcoming TV series) so that once the series begins production, the info will be ready to be moved to the mainspace. -- Zoo (talk) 17:50, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
