Pronunciation

It would be handy to know how to pronounce 'Hornady'. Is it hor-NAY-di or HOR-na-di? 125.63.168.184 (talk) 23:48, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

--It is HOR-NUH-DEE, with each syllable having equal weight (i.e. pronounced with the same emphasis; if it were a Spanish word, there would be no accents). In case you could not tell, I am not well versed in the IPA (international phonetic alphabet) or how to properly denote pronunciation, so if you want to take this info and run with it to edit the article, be my guest. However, the only source I have for this is from speaking to a company representative, so it is a primary source (well, I guess it could be considered secondary if you are the one to edit the article, technically it is secondary coming from me, but since there is no written source, idk...)- which Wikipedia doesn't like. AMAX

Shouldn't there be at least something about the AMAX bullets, considering that those are, at least as far as I know, the highest ballistic coefficient bullets for .50 BMG and .510 Whisper and other .510 caliber rounds. RogierWV (talk) 11:48, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Pacific Tool Company

Pacific Tool Company is a totally unsourced article about a manufacturer of reloading equipment that was purchased by Hornady in 1971. That purchase is the only sourceable fact about PTC that I can find.[1] I propose to redirect that article here, and add a sentence describing the company and the purchase. 6.5 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge)

OK, so there are many problems here...

Searching 6.5 PRC on en.wikipedia redirects to this article, to the section "Precision Rifle Cartridges". However, the only entry for a 6.5mm cartridge in that section is for 6.5 Creedmoor. This would lead someone searching for info about the 6.5PRC/6.5mm PRC/6.5 Precision Rifle Cartridge/ cartridge to falsely believe that the 6.5mm PRC cartridge is either the same as, or interchangeable with, the 6.5x48mm Creedmoor cartridge. While the 6.5mm Creedmoor served as the parent case for the 6.5mm PRC, and they fire the same diameter bullet, they ARE NOT, the same bullet, nor are they interchangeable. Given thge increase in popularity of both the 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC (due both to US DoD interest, and high performance), I suggest this be corrected, as to not cause (potentially dangerous) confusion. So, I suggest...

1. Create an article dedicated to the 6.5PRC cartridge, just like the one for the 6.5mm Creedmoor cartridge. 2. Add "Main Article" Links under 6.5 Creedmoor section, linking to the main 6.5 creedmoor article. 3. If adding a 6.5PRC section to this article, link it to the article created specifically for 6.5PRC. 4. Maybe consider deleting the subsections under "Precision Rifle Cartridges", and instead just state that Hornady has a product line of the aforementioned calibers, designed for high precision.

I am not well versed in editing articles, and do not want to mess anything up, so I will leave this information here, for someone who knows what they are doing, to act on it. I am going to, however, add a line below 6.5 Creedmoor in this article, as it stands, stating that 6.5 PRC and 6.5 Creedmoor cartridges are not mutually interchangeable (it may be possible for certain rifles to use the cartridges interchangeably, but certainly not all, notably, not most semi-automatic AR-10/LR-308 platforms that are chambered for 6.5 Creedmoor, which are very popular... this is similar to how rifles designed for .223 Remington CAN NOT use 5.56x45mm NATO rounds, however, the differences between the 6.5mm Creedmoor and 6.5mm PRC are even more than in that example). I will do this because I believe the risk of a shooter seeing this information and possible injury resulting from the confusion of the cartridges, outweighs the risk of me possibly failing to properly cite my source or messing up formatting. If I can figure out how, I am also going to take out the redirect from 6.5PRC to this article.

I second this. 6.5 PRC is becoming a more mainstream caliber now and should have its own page.
