editI have been using horse n' goggle as a selection method ever since I learned it back in 1977 at Camp Nebagamon. I was amazed that no one had created an article about it, since it is well known among people going to camp in Wisconsin and other youth organizations. It truly is the best selection method when you have a group larger than three people. I am hoping that more people will find out about it and start using it.Eviltrouts (talk) 06:02, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- I understand the need to keep Wikipedia's articles free from abuse, but I was under the impression that one aspect of Wikipedia was to be a cultural encyclopedia -- to document factual information that has been left out of the current powers-that-be in publishing. I have tried to include documentation to prove the existence of horse n' goggle as a selection method, and its adoption by many groups and individuals. When I went looking for some online references to it, I was disappointed that there were so few explanations of how to play. It seems to be one of those games that people use but it only currently only survived by oral tradition. I noticed that there were other people who had referred to it online and were also disappointed that it wasn't in wikipedia yet.
- I certainly hope that the Wikipedia powers find this argument valid enough to allow the inclusion of this article. It would be a shame to deny the existence of this game, even though it has been used for generations. Eviltrouts (talk) 21:40, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- @Eviltrouts: To "document factual information that has been left out of the current powers-that-be in publishing" is sadly pretty much the opposite of Wikipedia's purpose. One of the project's core policies is WP:VERIFY, which requires that all content be "determined by previously published information rather than the beliefs or experiences of its editors" - we're here to research and present what other researchers have already written about horsengoggle, rather than to offer our own first-hand memories and findings (which could be inaccurate, or biased, or misrepresented, or hoaxes, with no way of checking). --McGeddon (talk) 19:06, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

Horse n' goggle → Horsengoggle – The more reliable sources appear to use this as a spelling. "N'" is an incorrect abbreviation of "and". McGeddon (talk) 09:47, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- Usage looks strongly split to me. I guess the proposal has the advantage of not needing to decide how to punctuate it. Powers T 20:11, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
