Not spam
editthis is not spam. this artical has existed on wilkipidia for a long time in french. its about a Baron hottinger family and thier bank. the bank is over 200 years old, the founder of AXA insurance and many other finacial institutions.
- Blatantly copied from this site. Navigate through this site, you'll find each and every word copied.Hitro 07:55, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Hitrohit2001
- well, we own the site so thats not a problem. all the information is factual. if you have time you should read the history of the family, it will show you why this is not spam. the family is french nobility for over 200 years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Richotting (talk • contribs) 08:06, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- As reviewing administrator, I think the article in its present form would need to be deleted regardless of copyright, as it is blatantly promotional by the standards of the English Wikipedia: It is written in the first person, " We aim to anticipate your needs " , "Total Confidentiality: This essential concept underpins your confidence in us and the quality of the client-banker" , "As a Hottinger client, you are in touch with a partner or his immediate staff, " are representative not exceptional instances. It gives no factual information, such as size of the firm in personnel, capital, or assets under management, or even the actual date of founding, except for a list of associated companies--acceptable but borderline content as it is basically just a list of branches that could be summarized, and the names of the Executive Board, not acceptable content by our standards, though we do include the name of the chairman if we can determine it. As for copyright, you would absolutely need to release it to GFDL by the procedures given in WP:COPYRIGHT. But there is no real point in doing so, as it would need to be totally rewritten in any event. Not one sentence of the text is acceptable.
- But since the company is after all very important both now and historically, I reduced the article to a minimal stub. It needs to be expanded by factual encyclopedic information. For assistance with what is required, see our Business FAQ. I very strongly urge you to expand this properly -- and very rapidly -- for the article can still be listed for regular deletion. I will keep an eye out for how it the expansion is done. As for the French Wikipedia, I am not an administrator there, but I shall have a look. I doubt they accept unlicensed material from a website, once it is called to their attention, but I do not know their procedures for licensing it, nor their standards for such articles. All Wikipedia projects without exception have the same requirement for GFDL licensing, though most other matters are determined individually. DGG (talk) 09:30, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- ok I understand, I ask that you give me a time to expand the artical. the book that all the information is in is a french book,it is in two different books of 700 pages each. so it will take so time for me to translate the information. thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by Richotting (talk • contribs) 12:06, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Accuracy
editHottinger & Cie is not recognised as one of the first banks. It’s was founded in 1968 as a subsidiary of Hottinger Group.
Baron Jean-Henri Hottinger did not buy Banque Delessert, it was inherited through his marriage to Caroline Delessert (https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=3hUqDwAAQBAJ&pg=PA124&lpg=PA124&dq=hottinguer+marrige+to+delessert&source=bl&ots=QOJHXAZlMn&sig=ACfU3U3UiTHTcmszrskA2uvq_K878Lz0Vg&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjenIrFhLPqAhXdQhUIHQaeBdsQ6AEwDHoECAUQAQ#v=onepage&q=hottinguer%20marrige%20to%20delessert&f=false) Littlerock1991 (talk) 07:08, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
Vandalism
editUpdates by Battenberg1 are subjective, without citation and have inaccuracies. The author is believed to be Juerg von Geitz, who previously attempted to vandalise the page. Mr Geitz is the subject of a high court order forbidding him from such statements and publications. He was recently censored by LinkedIn for the same. Littlerock1991 (talk) 15:01, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
