iPhone Apps without App Store?

Aha. How should that work? Just another Jailbreak app store? The article sounds much like an ad for Hottrix … --94.247.216.98 (talk) 21:01, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

The Hottrix web site says:

"Premier Apps are instantly downloaded directly to any updated iPhone or iPod touch. They don't need internet connection to run and behave exactly like app store apps and no jailbreaking, hacking, unzipping, or iTunes required. For added mystery they can also be performed on another device."

There is an accompanying video explaining how it works. Apparently you download them right to your device, the way you would download, say, a document on a web site by browsing to it on your phone. Hottrix claims that they do this to protect their "secrets"; one could presume that this is to keep Apple from knowing how they work (after all, anything on the App Store must be pre-approved by Apple first). They assert that it's totally legal and I assume that Apple wouldn't let them get away with it if they didn't like it (Apple would at the least yank all their other apps from their store).

If you think that the article "sounds much like an ad" please make suggestions to improve it. I've tried to add as much information as I could that showed what was notable about the company, and I've tried to make it as neutral as I can. Certainly if you have anything notable that is negative about the company, and is properly sourced that would be very helpful. Thanks! -- Atama頭 22:42, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

I forgot to mention here that I created one. I copied what Microsoft had because it seemed to be relevant, but I left out the "key people" and "products" sections because those are already covered well enough in the article, and I also left out the part about revenue because we don't have that information. Steve Sheraton personal page

I am Hottrix's outside corporate counsel and a relatively new Wikipedian (but am very much enjoying it so far). Mr. Sheraton is one of the (many) inventors of the Hottrix Apps and has appeared in a few of its videos (along with numerous others), but otherwise NOT related to the company. If there was personal information about ALL of the inventors (such as Steve Charney), then the Wikipedia entry on Hottrix would be less valuable to community and not encyclopedic in nature. I am trying to assist in coordinating a good outcome here and help the community as a whole. If people think it newsworthy related to Mr. Sheraton's non-Hottrix issues, then hopefully someone will post a personal page about Steve Sheraton (and any other relevant Hottrix inventor/contractor).

The information that was being posted about Mr. Sheraton IN HOTTRIX'S ENTRY, was, first and foremost, not relevant to Hottrix; and secondly, it is false, and is the current subject of litigation and other potential defamation litigation. The litigation related thereto, may be referenced on Mr. Sheraton's personal page (if it is deemed relevant by the community) - but is not relevant as to Hottrix, LLC and information like that on a company's page will hurt Wikipedia.

I asked Mr. Sheraton to reach out to Atama, the Wikipedian who did such a great job preparing the initial article - since some of the information on my client's entry, should not be listed there. I was impressed at the initial article as it was VERY WELL RESEARCHED (and I was quite impressed with the responsiveness of Atama - he is a real valuable Wikipedian) - I was forwarded the following e-mail sent by Mr. Sheraton.

I am pleased to read your comments about the "defamation of living persons" issue. Without trying to break my NDA I might suggest that aforementioned quote could be one of the reasons Jason contacted you... Thus it would be wonderful we could not just improve the amazing Wikipedia project but also make sure everything stays clean by means of intellect, research, and tasty online references rather than legal muscle.

Thank you, and I hope to work on an article for Mr. Sheraton soon, as he is an interesting person and there is good potential for an encyclopedia article on him. Can someone give a better example URL to an imix playlist? The one currently on Wiki is not available to the Swedish iTunes Music Store and probably not available to quite a number of other music stores.

I have the impression that iMixes can only be accessed from within the countrys store, where it was created. So iMixes created within the swedish iTunes Music store can only be accessed by users registred with the swedish store. I did not find any document which discribes this matter. If you give somebody the iMix as a present this is only possible within the same countrys iTunes store. So thats why I think you cannot access this iMix --NimeoB
