Request Edit

edit

Hi,

I'm currently working on Howard Markel's Wikipedia entry. Most of my edits either added references and citations or have been essentially cosmetic, while a few edits have added new content to reflect recent developments in the subject's career.

I'm interested in providing the sufficient references and citations in order to remove the the two citation requests which currently headline Markel's page. If my recent additions are satisfactory, can we remove those and, if not, any help pointing towards areas in which I could further improve the page would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Puffery template and unsubstantiated claims

edit

I am adding the {{Puffery}} template to the article. In the section on the Kellogg book, I have found that editors stated "the best" when "one of the" best more accurately describes what is in the citation. There are also a number of unsubstantiated claims that I have marked with {{Citation needed}}. Since I have seen other edits that I would characterize as WP:POV, WP:PUFFERY, & possible WP:COI, all posted by IP addresses, I will only accept removal of the Puffery template by a registered user. If an IP editor wants to clean it all up then {{Ping}} me here, then I will remove it if I am satisfied. Peaceray (talk) 20:24, 1 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

I am interested in working to improve this entry on Howard Markel in order to address the tagged concerns about a) promotion through exaggeration of unnoteworthy facts and, b) content written like an advertisement.

I am also happy to disclose that

c) I worked as a Research Associate at the Center for the History of Medicine directed by Howard Markel from 2012 - 2015.

Other editors have made edits which I believe have significantly improved the entry and helped to address concerns a. and b. since their original posting in January, 2020.

I would like to now remove those tags since I believe the concerns have been addressed. However, before removing them I would like to consult with other editors who may have an interest in this page to see if they agree and, if not, what recommendations they have to make further edits to address a. and b.
