Baronet of Gwynfryn and Cefndeuddwr.

edit

I've spent the past month on and off composing a new article for Hugh Ellis-Nanney by scowerring the internet for facts, stories and topics of conversation. I believe I have done a good job with all the references and grammar work.

Please message or post in topic before making dramatic changes. Or if you have any personal questions for me, then find my link below. Cltjames (talk) 00:29, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

British politician

edit

Can the article clarify in what sense the subject can be called a "British politician"? From the available material, I see only that he was an unsuccessful parliamentary candidate. KJP1 (talk) 17:43, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

@KJP1 Ok, thanks. I altered the article description and introduction to now state political candidate. Is this what you meant by clarify ? Cltjames (talk) 18:21, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Page move

edit

cltjames - The page move from his name to Gwynfryn and Cefndeuddwr baronet is ridiculous, and not in compliance either with MoS, or with English usage. Baronets aren't dukes, and don't take the name of their baronetcy. His name is Hugh Ellis-Nanney and his title is Sir Hugh Ellis-Nanney, Bt. We don't call the Mark Thatcher page, Scotney baronet. Can it be changed back. KJP1 (talk) 16:12, 24 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

@KJP1 Ok, well, if that's your opinion. So be it. Cltjames (talk) 16:13, 24 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
It's not my opinion. It's how baronets are termed, here and in general. You have just misunderstood it, and made an ill-judged page move without asking advice. KJP1 (talk) 16:15, 24 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
@KJP1 My thought process was there was only 1 Baronet, so it applies to him solely. But thanks for the advice, I've requested a revert. Cltjames (talk) 16:33, 24 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
@KJP1 I've discovered the other article names for Hugh Ellis-Nanney.
And now
I think there are too many redirects for one person. Is it at all possible to delete all the multiple article titles? Also what is your opinion on me creating a new article solely for the Baronetcy of Gwynfryn and Cefneuddwr by moving paragraphs from one article to another, namely Gwynfryn and Cefndeuddwr ancestors. Just a thought, because the article seems to move away from the biography of Hugh and could do with breaking down the article into 2 articles, the Baronetcy and the individual. Cltjames (talk) 05:39, 25 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
cltjames - Have a read of Baronet. You're confusing it with a peerage, which it isn't. The re-direct page Ellis-Nanney baronets is the right title. Your Gwynfryn and Cefndeuddwr baronet is not. Look at Thatcher baronets, or any other example in the [[Category:Baronetcies in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom]] If you want a page on the baronetcy, then the right title already exists, Ellis-Nanney baronets, although I'm not sure what would go in it, as there was only one. KJP1 (talk) 06:44, 25 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
@KJP1:, I could simply move and add wording to an existing few paragraphs:-

Gwynfryn and Cefndeuddwr ancestors=== Nanney of Cefndeuddwr=== Ellis of Gwynfryn== Ellis-Nanney family== Gwynfryn and Cefndeuddwr family tree=== Please see Ellis-Nanney baronets for changes, feel free to talk. Cltjames (talk) 02:23, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have placed the redirect Gwynfryn and Cefndeuddwr baronet up for discussion here: Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2023 September 26. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 09:50, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
