The reference to Locus had to be removed because while it's a common misconception that the Semiprozine category was created because Locus had won the fanzine award several years running it is a misconception. I wasn't involved in WSFS at that time so the responsible thing to do was to talk with people both for and against the creation of the new category. Both sides have said that Locus magazine was referenced as an example of problems with the Fanzine category but so were many other publications. Quite simply, the category was not created because of Locus nor does any discussion re removing the category have anything to do with Locus.

The description of the amendment to remove the category was a description and thus unfortunately biased. I've changed it to the actual amendment, that being the only way I could find to remove any bias for or against the motion. I'll add that there aren't verbatim transcripts of the World Science Fiction Society business meetings. This is not due to any effort much less any desire to keep what goes on in a business meeting secret, it's simply that transcribing two days of meetings, with multiple people talking, is serious work. Any member of a Worldcon or the previous year's Worldcon is a member of the World Science Fiction Society, can attend and speak at a Business Meeting, the Business Meetings are listed in the program guide and people are encouraged .

While I admire and am fond of the person who added the link to the "save the semiprozine" blog, and might understand the reasons, the link it had to be removed because of bias.

I've done my best to be objective and unbiased in my editing and have edited my user page to make it clear as to who I am and my relationship to the subject. And, for whatever it's worth, I haven't come to a conclusion as to how I'm going to vote. --Kovar (talk) 20:13, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
